New wrinkle in the problem of sleep

So, I live in a townhouse. The walls are fairly thin on one side. A family of 4 lives there, and the wife is preggers. Apparently she had the baby recently, because every three hours or so I was awakened by 'I'm hungry' cries of am irate infant.

ARGH!! Babies can't help it, but it looks as if I will have to invest in earplugs.

Sorry that you aren't getting good sleep. I hope that the earplugs work.

Sorry, that would be annoying to anyone. Is your bed against the adjoining wall so you can move it maybe??? If not the earplugs sound good.

 

I know I have listened to that enough with my kids and grandkids so don't need to hear it from a stranger's baby.

I hope the earplugs work. Personally there is NO WAY I would live in a condo, apartment or even in the city. I've got my 2 acres of
serious quiet. I live on a back country road with very few neighbors and not a whole lot of traffic. Turn my fan on to high to drown
out what little noise there is. Of course, the wind chimes help. I have about 10 various sizes and sounds out there and they sound
real nice day or night.

Sounds good, nana!! Specially the windchimes. I don't mind living living near people; I just get really cranky when something interferes with my sleep. And I can't do anything about.

Moms out there: How long does the middle of the night crying go on?

Oh wow. That would drive me nuts. I know, of course that the baby can't help it, but sleep is so precious to us.

Have you considered a noise machine or a humidifier? I run one or the other depending on the season, and they both really drown out a lot of noise. I live in a neighborhood where the houses are really close with lots of barking dogs and have to have something to cover up the barking.

I could never live like that our kids all wanted to live in town until they di now our 5 acres in the country we live in a quite area all our neighbours even those with children like their peace a quite as well barking dogs drive me up the wall. I like the dark and quite give me the country life anyday. As for crying babies if the ear plugs don't work what about music and earphones? I could not use the ear plugs that would be my way of coping.
