Hi, Louise, and welcome! We have had members that have had a positive ANA and then it changed. The ANA test tells you if you have any autoimmune activity going on in your body. This is only a piece of the diagnosis because many healthy people can test positive for an ANA, I believe. Here is what the Mayo Clinic has to say.

Fibromyalgia symptoms are very similar to lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other illnesses. Perhaps the fact that you flare up in the summer sparked something in your doctor's mind. I know that summer is the worst time for me with pain from fibro. I hope your doctor is correct and it is fibro because lupus is a more difficult illness, I believe. Yes, you have pain with fibro. As one member put it, "Fibromyalgia is a life sentence...not a death sentence." Hey, I'll live with that!
Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. One link is called What Else Could It Be. You will see the dilema that doctors have!
I'm so glad you joined us. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. I hope to hear more from you soon.
