Pain clinics

I want to know about pain clinics. Has anyone ever gone to one? Do they just give pain meds or what? I don't like taking meds, but I've tried everything and I'm wondering if I should go to a pain clinic. I'm very active because I'm 18 and go to college and I race dirtbikes... So I frequent lots of pain. So I would be willing to try something like meds if I don't have to worry about weight gain or addiction. Those are my 2 major fears.

Any advice? Or anything at all... Thanks

I think that everyone has had a different experience. I went to a pain managment clinic and the Doctor there did not prescribe any pain meds, he left my medications up to my regular doc. He did however give me botox injections in my neck and temples and performed a facet nerve rhizotomy on the left side of my neck which gave me no relief at all so I did not have the right side done because the procedure is painful. I have heard from alot of people that pain managment docs like to give injections of different kinds which do help some people.
