Hey everybody.  I've not been online for a while due to moving into our house.  I started taking Savella and it (after the initial packet) was working great.  I painted three rooms and we (husband and I) moved in within a week.  Things were fine and then it seemed like it wasn't working as well.  My hips, legs, knees, and my feet (OMG) hurt so bad.  I'm not sure if it is the weather or if the Savella has just stopped working.  This seems to happen to me on different meds.  They work great and then stop.  Has anyone else had this happen with Savella?  I'm practically eating Excedrin and Ibuprofen.  Not a good combo with IBS and an ulcer.  It is very windy down here in Louisiana, so I'm wondering if that is also contributing.

Hi college coasches wife,

I am about to start Savella myself and am hoping it works. I've had other medications stop working before though. I'm from Louisiana too, so I'm wondering if it's this yucky weather we have here. The heat doesn't help much either.

I'm from Lake Charles. Really neat to visit someone else from the deep south. We are supposed to get rain tomorrow evening, so I'm wondering if that is a factor also. Going to the Chiro at 4:45 today. Hope he can help me. The move probably has my back all out of whack. Who knows!! Hope you are doing OK. What pain meds do you take and who do you see for your fibro? I'm seeing an Intern NP. She is really good, but wondering if I need to see a different type of doctor.

I've been on Savella for a few months and I haven't noticed a weakening effect. Medicines that do work for me tend to wear off after a couple months also. But one time I tried weaning off of Savella and I was so terrible that I went back on it.

College coaches wife,

I read that many people complain about hurting worse when the weather changes. I haven't really noticed a difference in my pain level changing with weather because I hurt all the time. I seem to hurt at a pain level of 7 every single day, then flare for one week every month and my pain level then is unbearable. Probably over a 10.

I am currently taking Tramadol for pain but am thinking that I should just switch to Darvocet so I won't be so worried about the serotonin syndrome.

I see a Rheumatologist for the Fibro.

How is the Savella working for your pain? What side effects did you have when you first started it?

I have been taking Savella for over two years now. It had been working really well. Lately, I have noticed it doesn't seem to be doing much. I am going to talk to my doctor about it at my next appointment. So far, it has been the only thing that did work this well.

From what I understand, this is typical. The best results are in the first weeks and months, and then you settle into the "new normal." I have gone off both this and Cymbalta at different times because I thought it was no longer working. Both times I found out that is really had been working a bit…by going off completely all drugs I occasionally guage where I am without meds.

SSRI and SNRI drugs do have a propensity toward what they call "poop out syndrome," where something that worked no longer works very well. It is frustrating to say the least.

Hi college coaches wife. I'm frum Sulphur and still have family in Lake Charles. I just realized this is an older post but thought id say hi anyway. I hope everything with the savella worked out for you.

I have never been given Neurontin. I will ask my doctor next time I go. Thanks!
