Hi, am new today. I am 63 and have Fibro for past 11 years. Within the past 6 weeks I have been in intense pain and hav e not been able to work for first time in all this time. I am going thru lots of stress at work and I know this exacerbates the pain. A friend of mine who works in vitamin store, told me a lady came in today with Fibro and swears by this product. She was 55 and she says it changed her life.   HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS PRODUCT AND CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING YOU KNOW.   " ZYFLAMEND".  Its for sale all over the internet and I just want to know if anyone has tried it.  Thanks alottongue

Hi, Zippylin, and welcome!  I had to do a search because I have never heard of this.  Apparantly this is a product consisting of ten different herbs and is used sometimes with prostate cancer victims.  It helps lower a man's PSA. 

 

The FDA has issued a letter to the Internet distributor for exaggerated claims.  Also, it can interact with other medications.

 

I don't know how this would help fibro because it is more for inflammation and cancer.  Doctors say that fibro isn't an inflammatory illness.  This product is not FDA approved and you should talk to your doctor before trying this.  Your pharmacist might be able to give you some help, too.  I don't trust what they tell you in the health food stores.  They are trying to sell a product and I had a neighbor who knew nothing about herbals working at one of the stores.  So, please talk to your doctor and pharmacist.

turn Thanks for the reply. I always check everything out with my doc, I will on this too. When I googled this with fibro, it came back that claims say it helps the inflamation of the nerves and muscles.  At this point, I am willing to try anything. I am out of work for first time in 30 years. I am on FMLA leave and will be let go soon. I have applied for ss but I know sometimes it takes years. Keep plugging along.   I still stay positive and live each day that way, with love and laughter. Thanks for answeringtongue

You were probably getting a response from the manufacturer because fibromyalgia is not an inflammatory illness so it can't help with inflammation from fibro!

If I may offer a suggestion...I think I would invest in something 'natural' that has had some success and is not as misleading as this one seems to be. There are many people on the forum and elsewhere who take a combination of malic acid and magnesium. In fact Sherrine uses it almost exclusively for control of her fibro pain. If I may share, She's told me she's not pain free but without it her pain is definitely much worse. It's inexpensive and easy to buy online. In the Fibro 101 thread at the top of the page listings is a site to find it if you want to try. So far it's the best price any of us can find and it comes combined into one pill.

I think you probably hit on your problem...stress! That can send my pain level to new heights really fast! It's hard to just tell yourself to not worry or not stress but doing it's another problem all together. ;-) Maybe working on some stress reduction could help also. Plus many of us find that by coming here and talking with others who truly understand what we are going through helps relieve the stress of loneliness and feeling misunderstood in this world. Here we all 'get it'.

Hope you find a way to regain some comfort in your life.

Yes, malic acid/magnesium supplements have helped me a lot.  Also, vitamin D3 has helped me.  I just upped my dose the beginning of this month, with my doctor's blessings, and am doing even better.  I'll know for sure in a few months because summer is my worst time with fibro.  I live in Florida and the storms and high humidity do a number on me.  The winters here are usually like the spring months up north...but not last year.  It was cold and I was hurting just as much then.

Actually I have fibro and I take a supplement called FibroResponse which does have Magnesium, as well as a ton of other vitamins and minerals in it and I can definitely feel a difference. I also do take Zyflamend as I have an issue with inflammation in my system, and inflammation is actually common with a lot of fibro patients and it does go unnoticed and not properly handled as it should. Especially in younger patients.

I spoke with my doctor regarding the supplements, as well as any and all vitamins that I take (I just take a womens daily multi vitamin and a calcium one besides those) because of all the different medications I am on and the possible interactions that could happen.

Even if you are only on one script, you should always run any supplements of any kind past your prescribing physician. Unless they have an MD next to their name, I wouldn't trust that it's okay for you individually. But I would suggest being open to recommendations. FibroResponse enabled me to get back to work and Zyflamend has enabled me to not be in as much pain while I'm there, and be able to do more physically. When I don't take them, I feel hit by a truck.

Everyone is different though. Run it by your doctor first to make sure there are no interactions that could be potentially dangerous, then why not try it? If it could possibly help isn't that worth it?

I also have tried Zyflamend and so has my husband. I took it to my doctor first and he said it was fine to take it. I also take dyazide for blood pressure, flexeril for muscle pain. I did see alittle decrease in pain although I was only taking one a day, but my husband took two at a time and he really noticed a decrease in pain. When we ran out we have not purchased more but I would try it again. Bromelain by itself is another product that helped my pain level.
