I fell last thursday and broke 4 ribs.  It is so hard to breathe and the pain is like nothing I have felt before nor want to feel again.  I hurt doing everything and has put a crimp in everything I do(which Ive been told is too much nono ) so it at least got me to slow down or should I say now even doing the dishes causes incredable pain.  I go back for a check up today and to see if he will continue to allow me to still take an extra morphine a day.  It helped some and he will give me another toradol shot which I wish I lived closer because that really helps(burns like a mother getting it shocked ).  Mothers Day turned out very nice.  My mom had all her kids with her for a change and we bought her flowers for her back porch since her kittens eat all the plants inside tongue ).  My mother is 78 and was overwelmed by everyone being there.  There was me,my 3 brothers,my daughter and her 4 kids,my niece and then my brother John who is visiting from Kansas had an old friend visit with his wife and brother(he didnt speak any english they are from vietnam) and they even brought my Mom a lovely gift basket.  The place was bursting at the seams in her lil one bedroom apartment.  I spent the day trying to get comfortable but it ended up with me having to go lie down or should I say sitting with my back to the wall but it didnt take long for all the grandkids to find me.  They were so cute trying to take care of Grandma and lil Kirsten kept trying to kiss my shoe since she figured my feet had to hurt since I was laying on the bed lol.  Its going to take 6 weeks for my ribs to heal.  Oh and I had to buy these 6 inch wide ace bandages since the elastic belt Im suppose to be wearing I couldnt get to the only store that had them.  If Im standing up it works well but as soon as I sit down it rolls up on my ribs and hurts aweful bad.  I hope everyone had a nice Mothers Day and having LPD's.

Gee Whiz, Karen, if it weren't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all!!! Hope you're on the mend soon.

And could you do us a favor and whittle your signature down to under 10 lines, please? If it were me, I'd remove the med list. Nobody needs to know what you take or why. (It's none of their business nono)

Thanks! I just want to say, I'm glad the weather is cooler if you have to wear those 6" ace bandages. I had to wear them in the summer one time and it was like wearing a winter coat in the summer. Talk about perspiration!!! BTW, you can hand wash those bandages and they will retain their stretch. I learned this the hard way after I washed them in the machine.... They got reallllllyyyyyyy loooooong! tongue

I already learned that with some others! lol Ya finally got a ride to get the rib belt and it wasnt complete!! Medicaid wouldnt pay for it either, so 25 bucks for something I cant use. I was tired and hurting and didnt take the time to look in the box. My doctor told me about getting pnuemonia(sp)but he feels that I am breathing too shallow without something to hold my ribs so he is having me do breathing exercises and boy does that hurt!!

Hi Karen.  How are you doing?  So sorry to hear this.  My good friend had four broken ribs last year from a fall off a horse and it was horrible for her.  Hope you are doing better!
