Mary, I feel your pain (no pun intended). I know what it's like to worry, "What if it isn't fibro? What if the doc is wrong? What if it is something worse?" I've worried about
every little twinge, twitch, bump, pain, swelling, etc. I've scoured the internet trying to "diagnose" myself. I've been afraid that I've had MS, ALS, and every cancer immagineable. And all I've ended up with is stress, anxiety, and a diagnosis of fibro that has been confirmed by 3 rheumatologists.
I think many of us suffer from anxiety, and the constant worry about
our diagnosis/health can be a manifestation of that. My advice is to trust your doctor. No doctor wants to ignore something more serious or life threatening and just label it fibro. It sounds as if your doc has done the appropriate tests. Also, most of the problems you describe could be attributed to both anxiety and fibro. If you are still uncertain, there is nothing wrong with a second opinion.
Finally, stay off the internet!! (Except here, of course)
I know from first hand experience that there is just enough info out there to drive you crazy. I still struggle with self-diagnosing online, and I have to battle it constantly. In my opinion, the only exception would be researching and educating yourself about
a condition that you have been diagnosed with by your doc (in this case, fibro). There are lots of reputable sites such as Web MD and National Institute of Health, and the Fibro 101 link here is great.
I'm sending you soft hugs and wishes for a peaceful weekend.
