I've had that for years. Trying to write checks could be a project because I could write half of it out and then have to hang my hand down and shake it so I could feel the pen again. It comes and goes for me.
I also had carpal tunnel. If this is caused by carpal tunnel, your thumb, index, middle finger and the inside of your ring finger will be affected. I took NSAID's for that and I rarely have problems now. I did try the wrist braces but that didn't help.
I hope you start to feel better. Rest your hands so that the wrist is straight. The bone in your wrist has a narrow opening that the nerve passes through and when the nerve gets pinched, that's when the numbness and pain happen. As I said, mine is pretty much gone now and I never had surgery for it.
