 decided I need to get my hair highlighted for the summer and get a trim, so I went to my hair dresser on Saturday, well the shampoo bowl was not being my friend, and then she put a deep conditioner on my hair to help with the dryness that the highlights give me, so she thought I was going to be in the painful position for 5-10 mins, not, so after I could not take it anymore I just sat up and waited. Also when the foil was put in my hair, she kept asking me to bend my head down in an awkward way. Well guess what??? My neck had a major kink in it, which in turn turned into a major migraine, and exreme pain in my neck and shoulder. Here it is monday morning, I'm at work and still in pain and my neck and shoulders are so stiff and hurt. (But....my hair looks nice) cry idea

You beat me to it!  I just had a haircut this morning...my hairdresser that I usually use is gone!  A girl with her head shaved up the back and long 'drapes' hanging down the front to her shoulders was the only one there.  She had a be-be pierced through her nose and what looked like a saftey pin laced through her eyebrow.  I told her I wanted a haircut.  "Shampoo too?" she asked.  'Uh, yes.' I replied.  'Well, that will be two extra dollars."  Whatever.  She didn't put a cape on me and led me to the sink.  Yes...those sinks hurt my neck.  Ran the water for at least five minutes...started to wet my head and says I hope this isn't too cold.  It was ice water.  Long sigh when I told her it was freezing.  Lathers up my head for about ten seconds.  'Conditioner?"  I tell her yes to which she responds 'that's an extra two dollars.'  Oh, whatever again.  My shirt was sopping wet and my neck was killing me from waiting so long for the water to heat up...which it never did.  She cut my hair...'blow dry?'  Yes. "That will be an extra two dollars.'  I told her to forget it...I was shivering by this time and she kept hacking her lungs out in my face.  OMG.  I asked her if she was sick...'I don't know...maybe allergies'.

Yikes...and double Owie.  Six extra bucks for what used to come with a haircut?  Next they will be charging us to use scissors...and a surcharge for looking into the mirror.

Yes, it can be really hurt, especially when they try to leave you there for a while. The funny part if my hair dresser has fibro too, so you would think she would of known how to handle me a little different.

that did your hair must have a twin who did my hair. I left looking like David Bowie all
punked out. Before I had my hair cut, I had colored it red. I think I will go back to being a
blonde and look like and old Annie Lennox from the Eurythmics. Hopegirl, I'm glad your hair
looks nice!

Im sorry you guys had such painful experiences at the hair dressers. The title caught my eye and I was thinking how I no longer strive for beauty lol. I do get haircuts once in awhile but I have a wonderful hairdresser and she is the only one I will go too. I hope you all feel better soon.

Yikes! Sounds like a nightmare. I go to the same girl every 6-8 weeks or so. I can't tolerate the bowl sink either, so she just cuts my hair dry or spritzes it with water. I color it at home, using one that washes out in 4-6 weeks. So much easier on my neck!

I never get my hair washed at the salon anymore. Just can't take it. Just putting my head down while they cut the back is bad enough. I'll never forget the 2 times I actually let them highlight my hair by pulling it through one of those rubber caps. Lots of tears. Never again!

Thr same thing happened to me last week. The back of my head hurt so bad foe days.

Update: cry

I'm in a full blown flare at this point. 2 more hours till I can go home and get some pain relief. I have an ice pack on but its not helping!!

I had to go through a perm twice. The batch that she got was no good so mine didn't take. come to find out, there were five total that she had to redo. But perms take a long time and what you think should be pampering isn't. It is hard on the neck. But now it should last three months. I hope.

I am sorry you ladies are hurting so bad. I hope that you feel better soon.

I must be weird.......I love those sinks, I just position my neck and let my head relax backand give it a few gentle back and forths.  I could just relax there. But I also roll up my pillow at night and put my neck in the same position.

Hope your last hour goes fast and you get home to some relief.

You know I'm glad you shared this.  I honestly thought I was the only one who hated to get her hair washed before a haircut! 

 

 It has always killed my neck too. I just got to where I would always tell them, I just washed my hair this morning, so please can you cut it dry? Its not worth the pain. 

 

I now go to the same girl, and she knows to always skip the shampoo. Sorry for what your going through. Hope you feel better soon.
