In the event of today, 4th of July. What was your most favorite memory of Fourth of July memory?

For me, I enjoyed helping my church congregation with the float for the parade, just being around my congregation enjoying their company. In my family, holidays are always hard, as it brings much tension so I enjoy being invited places and being with the church congregation.

For the last 20 years we would whenever possible have a 4th of July picnic at my best friends house. Then at Christmas her and her family would come here. My best friend died on Aug. 13th last year of cancer. I will always have my memories of her and I know that I will see her again someday.

I remember sitting outside and lighting sparlers. Then we would have fireworks. But they don't do them in our town anymore, so it is just a fond memory.

Thanks for continueing the Koffee Klatch. I always enjoy reading them.

My dad used to own a bookstore downtown, and it was right on the parade route. So of course we had a wonderful spot! I'd get excited walking towards the music, holding my parents' hands. I loved all the bands and the beautiful floats, back when there were so many really good ones. Now the parade is mostly advertising, and I usually skip it because of that and because it tires me out too much.

My favorite fourth memory was of when I was a little girl. My dad would pitch a tent in the back yard and we would watch fireworks from back there and I would sleep in the tent overnight and it was a real blast. Those were the good ole innocent days. Nothing like that now.
