Results are back

Well friends I went to the Pulminologist for my biopsy results today. The pathologist report said probable Large Cell Cancer. My doctor is sending the tissue samples down to Mayo for testing there but we are going to go ahead and think of this as cancer. This could be a rather long post alot to explain here.  Ok so on August 11th I go in for a pet scan to see if it has spread any further than my lungs. If it hasnt then they will do surgery to remove the tumer on my right lung. One thing they are worried about is a small nodule on my left lung. If that does happen to light up on the pet scan they will have to go in and surgically remove it to see wheter it is also cancerous. If it isnt then they will go ahead and remove the tumor from the right side.

Ok now if the one on the left is cancer they wont remove the one on the right because it is considered to be massastitized which means it is spreading and there is no way to stop it. Then they will probably just do radiation or chemotherapy to hold it off as long as possible. So once again my friends it is the waiting game.

Well, this is a bit of a shocker. That's true. If it was me, I'd need time to digest this info. But I know you are going to rally around and be able to do this. You are strong. You are smart. Your doctors are very smart! You have a good team to work with at the medical facilities. People have beaten this. You can, too.

I'm going to go find a segment I posted for someone else - about a doctor who had cancer and survived it twice - and went on to write a book about foods that help you battle cancer and also prevent it. He's been cancer free for 16 years now. It isn't a replacement for medical help - it just helps. Let me find it - I'll be back.

I'm so glad you posted this here. We can all rally around and support you through this. You're important here and I know you're loved here.

I am so sorry this is happening in your life.  I truly believe anything is possible and you can have complete healing.  As someone else posted, Lance Armstrong beat lung cancer.  It happens all the time.  You seem to be having a good attitude as well, which is great.  I will be prying for you.  Please keep us updated.   

Shirley ((hugs)) I'm sorry to hear that but also know my MIL was diagnosed with lung cancer and this sounds crazy but the mass disappeared. Doctors back tracked on the diagnosis but the nurse who was a christian said she has seen this happen before and gives the glory to God.

Whatever God's will is, live your life to the fullest and I believe you do, laugh and I will be praying for you sis.

Shirley, I am so sure you have the strength and ability to continue fighting. There is not much anyone can say that will take the shock and pain of this away. Prayers are with you and know that God has a plan for you.

This is a wonderfully encouraging story, KellieJo, I'm so glad you posted this!

Also, I've been following another miraculous story of a boy who has been winning a battle with the worst kind of brain cancer. He wasn't supposed to be doing this well. He's doing this treatments - and he is totally kicking its butt all over the place. They can't even find the cancer any more. Now he is getting a new sort of treatment - some sort of injections that create a sort of immunity - and is still doing really well. This kid has the sunniest outlook - and between treatments he and his family just do every joyful thing a kid like him might normally do. So please, DO keep hope. People win all the time - for all sorts of reasons!

Shirley, doctors are not God.  Many times they are wrong.  My grandmother had cancer of the lymphatic system.  They opened her up and the tumor filled her abdominal cavity so they stitched her back up and gave her six months to live. 

 

But, God had different ideas.  She did try chemo and the tumor shrunk to the size of a golf ball and the cancer went into remission.  She died 15 years later of something completely different!  She was 80 years old when she passed on. 

 

So, keep the faith!  Your attitude is wonderful and will help you IF you are in this battle, along with the many prayers you are receiving.
