Has anyone gone out on short term with their job more than once?

Morning Fibro Fam,

 

Has anyone gone out on short term more than once? I went out on ST the year before last for about 8 weeks. I so wished I would of saved it for now, I am so exhausted and in pain that I really need a break.

But it's crazy at my job right now, and I'm scared that if I do get approved and go out, when I get back shortly their after, I wibe let go. Jobs are getting cut here right and left. The office just made 17 employee's relocate to a city that is about 45 mins away. They were told it was that or nothing. I am an admin and they are actually pretty sparse right now. Most upper mgmt can do anything I can do, its just they don't want to or want their time free'd up so that is why I am here, but I just have a gut feeling that my job is about to be eliminated anyway.

Hope you get it worked out and can take the time off if you feel you need it without losing your job.

I'm very thankful for my job and am scared everyday of losing it, especially since the divorce.

Im sorry hope that you are having to go through all this. I dont know about the STD. It wasnt even offered where I used to work. I just wanted you to know that you are in my prayers.

If you are full time or have x amount of hours a year you can go out on FMLA, the family medical leave act. I've had to do
this because of surgery a few times. I went out 1 1/2 years ago for 2 1/2 months because of arm and knee surgery. Right
now I'm out for 3 months because of a tumor in my left wrist (big one) and artho on my other knee. I had the arm done
a month ago and the knee yesterday. With my job first it's LOA (leave of absence) then after so long it goes to FMLA.

by law if you ask HR they have to send you the paper work. my supervisor was going to write me up for absence for PT & I asked him before this started did I need to get FMLA for my DR appts & PT he said he would work with me and then after 3 wks they call me in and said they called HR and they said I could apply for FMLA. I knew about FMLA from old job, but didn't want it on this job record. I went to HR on different matter then found out they were gonna write me up for absence & HR would not approve b/c the wanted to know what was going on with my abscenes. Basically he lied to me and tried to double cross me. HR backed me up. I am out of work now. I am on short term dis. and called my hr rep to find out what extra I am paying for and she said paying for dis. after long term dis. 180 days. The long term days is no where in the hand book. That is so sneaky. Good Luck, we all have such a fight against corporations. And most doctors are in bed with the pharmacy companies.

In 2008 I went out for back surgery was gone from July 29 until Dec. 1, and this year, I have been out since January. FMLA for 12 weeks, then STD kicked in. As of July I have not been receiving any pay because LTD is still deciding if I have jumped high enough. When you go out if approved, by law your job is protected while on FMLA. Most HR/Companies are really careful NOT to terminate anyone that's been out too soon after returning to work especially if your work record is clean. That causes law suits and companies tend to lose at that point. If you have LTD, you are paying for the benefit, however, as in my case, Aetna....is dragging their feet, not doing what they have communicated to me and are doing everything in their power NOT to pay. It looks like I may have to hire an attorney to get my benefits.I mad the mistake of thinking that if the doctors put your out on extended leave your insurance company would pay the LTD, afterall, that's what you are paying for... NOT so...
It's really a game and I hate it. Your health is the most important thing. If you don't take care of you now, you will pay later.
