pain in hands

Hi, Have a question? Went to the dr. today for a EMG. I have very painful hands and they have been hurting for several months. My orthro dr. was checking for carpul tunnel. The dr. doing the test today today said it was mild cp. and to wear splints on my hands and wrists only at night to see if that helps. Was wondering if anyone else is suffering from this condition. I have some osteoarthritis but this hand apin is very painful. I,ve had fibro for 16 yrs now. It,s really making my job very difficult. I build industrial fans and i need my hands to use tools. ai would appreciate any answers.

Hi...I was just answering a similar question when I saw yours pop up. So I will share my answer here too. I should add that my EMG was negative but they still said it was carpal tunnel. I don't know what is going on but my pain is worse now than before the surgery. Numbness is much better but this pain in my thumb is awful.

I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands (nov and dec 09) and since have had brutal hand pain. Lumps of scar tissue at incision site but mystery pain in the pad of my thumb and wrist...on both hands. The surgeon said the thumb pain is called "pillar pain" and would get better in about 3 months. I am way past that and still hurts so bad every day. I don't wear braces anymore cuz it seemed to make it worse but I sure wish someone could figure out something to help it. Didn't know I had fibro when first trying to figure it all out but got the diagnosis during the process. Maybe the hand pain is just part of it...not sure. I have had multiple cortizone injections as well as trigger point but nothing seems to help. So frustrating.
