Is anyone having or had pain in the head that is more like you got hit with a hammer or something? like the part of the head is tender and sore feeling?

I get this fairly often. My doctor said if your hair hurts, it's likely nerve pain. Neurontin often helps me, although sometimes it's my sinuses so I take an OTC sinus med and tie my hair back and steam over boiling water.
Best of luck--this is painful stuff, I know!

I guess you could say my hair hurts.. it feels like I had a super tight pony tail in my head for a long time.. very sore and tender and some stabbing pain off and on. Not all over, just in the left side of my head.. does this sound similar to yours? Thank you for answering me..

i had this happen to me a few years ago. Just pressing down on my head caused me to feel pressure. Had an MRI and it didn't show anything serious. The dr. treated the pain and we just watched it. The worse of it went away but still to this day if I wear my hair up for long it hurts.

I had an incident once where one side of my head hurt-air even hurt if I walked or an air vent blew on me. My rheumy dx'd as occipital neuralgia and gave me a nerve block(which hurt!!) but pain went away after a few hrs.

yes...I have had that...had to cut my hair cut off because of it.  The weight of my hair was giving me headaches and a tender, sore scalp.  The bow of my glasses even hurts to rest on the bone behind my ear...and forget wearing a barrett or a head band.

I also have scalp tenderness and yes it feels like bruises and I can feel it even if my hair moves.  It is worse some days than others.  Have not been able to wear a headband or pony tail in years - this causes pounding headaches within minutes.  Most of my scalp pain is on the left side as someone else mentioned.

mine is on the left also.. and I have glasses but it does cause pain when I wear them too long.. THANK you for this everyone.. it helps to know that it is not me losing my mind.. you helped me out more than you know!!

I, too, have sore spots on my head. For me, it feels like different fingers are pressing on my head at different spots.... or on a milder day, it only hurts if press on it.. .tender scalp I guess. Also, it hurts me to wear a ponytail. I wasn't sure if that is a Fibro symptom or not.
