Hi, Perle, and welcome! You've gotten some good advice already. Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibromyalgia there and you can sort of tell, yourself. You do need to rule out other illnesses that have many of the same symptoms as fibro. You want to make sure you are being treated for the right illness. Also, I see you posted this is a couple of other forums. Remember, we are not doctors here. We are guessing just like you are. You do need to be checked out properly and given a diagnosis. That is really important.
You might want to try a rheumatologist if you are not happy with your neuro. But, make sure whatever doctor you see does treat fibro patients. There are still doctors out there that don't think this is a real illness!
One of your biggest problems is staying in bed...especially if you have fibro. You need to keep moving. If you sit or lay too much, you will be stiff as a board and have more pain and fatigue. Also, if you truly have spent most of your time in bed, that alone will make you weak. You need to keep moving.
There are some gentle stretching exercises in Fibro 101 that really do help. Then you need to find a gentle exercise you can do daily. I walk and swim as my exercise. I head out the door with my dog just as the sun is rising. I don't feel like doing that but I know I will have less pain and be more energized when I get back home. We walk at least a half an hour.
I use a couple of supplements that help with pain and fatigue....malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D3 supplements. There are links about these in Fibro 101 and how they work in your body.
I also get gentle massages. I found my massage therapist through the American Massage Therapy Association. They have a lot of education and have to continue to take classes each year in order to be affiliated with this organization. They study how to massage a customer with fibro. My massage therapist is wonderful and she helps me a lot. Here is a link to see if you can find a good massage therapist in your area...if you are interested.

Moist heat helps with the pain, too. Hot showers feel wonderful and some have Bed Buddies. You can find these at Walgreen's and other places or you can make your own by taking a tube sock, filling it 2/3's full of raw long grain rice, and tying a knot at the end. Pop it in the microwave and it gives off moist heat!
I'm so glad you found us and joined in. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Let us know what you find out from your doctors. I hope to hear more from you soon.
