Pain in hips and lower stomach on sides near appendix and opposite side

I have had these pains off and on for months.  Well, tonight I have them again.  Can fibro mess with your overies?  I know it may be a stupid question.  I am sore tonight and it will not let me lie down and go to sleep.  I don't want to take pain meds (advil) if I don't need to.  And I am so tired and want to sleep but cannot.  I don''t know.  Well, going to try again.

You could be ovulating. I have pain every other month on one side during ovulation - I guess one ovary is more tender than the other one. Maybe you should go ahead and take some pain meds (eat with advil, though), so you can sleep. If you can sleep, you might feel better. Oh, and hip pain might be bursitis. It really hurts and my doc said that people with fibro and similar diseases are more likely to get bursitis. Heat helps both, by the way.

Hi Lisa,

I don't think fibro would be the direct cause of that type of pain. I agree with Sue...taking a couple of Advil once in a while isn't going to be harmful - unless you have other issues with them. I think that the benefit of sleep totally outweighs any down side of the medication. That's just my opinion.

It's easy to blame fibro for everything...I think we've all done it at one time or another...and by doing so we may miss some other problem. I'm not just saying this to you but am using your question to remind all of us, me included, that this darn fibro can mimic so many other thing and we can be deceived when it's NOT fibro.

I do hope you get some sleep and some relief from the pain. Please do ask your doc or gyno about the pain just to be safe and likely sleep better.

Hey Lisa,
im new here but wanna put my .10cents in. seems sleep is critical when it comes to living well with pain. i definitely think Chutzie is on the button with sleep outweighing the down side of the meds.

with sleep i increase my available energy to do the things I need to do to live in freedom WITH pain. like stretching and moving a little when I truly dont feel like it. or breathing deeply several times a day to keep my lungs opening up.

There are so many little things I can do that make a difference in my days of living well with pain, yet without available energy its often too tough. With energy I can get those things done.

Sleep is one of the biggest sources of renewing energy.

Chutz- Thanks for reminding me not to blame everything on fibro. It is so easy to fall into that trap. I continue to learn about this funky fibro. I did end up taking an Advil and fell asleep. I feel better this morning. Thank you to everyone!

My daughter has similar pains that keep her awake, even after gall bladder surgery. :(

Hope you both get some answers soon.

Achey~ I had gall bladder surgery about 7 yrs ago. Hope your daughter gets some answers soon!
