Blasted chest pain!

Well, here I am, a week after I rushed to ER with almost the same symptoms.  (My heart workup came out fine, I follow up with my pcp tomorrow, I started pills for low thyroid) and everything's Archie, until this morning.  No fast heartrate this time, at least, but the pressure, the fullness, and the lightheadedness are back, and this time - off and on chest pain!  And arm pain!

The hospital doc said before I left, "of course, if you get awful pain, and you have sweat pouring off of you, don't NOT come back in just because all your tests came back ok!"  Well, it's not anywhere near that bad, but what the *^%$??  It's really creepy!!

If you are  having chest pain that radiates down your arm OR even neck pain, get it checked out.  You do not want to fool around with this.  Have you called your doctor?  That would be my first call.  If it got worse, I would head back to the hospital. 

 

I hope this disappears as quickly as it arrived.  Please let us know how you are doing.  I'll be praying that this goes away.

I'm glad to hear it's more of a chest discomfort.  I'm also glad you are seeing your doctor tomorrow.  As I said before, I hope this goes away soon for you.  It can be frightening.

Debbie, one thing your mentioned rang a bell with me. I was having chest pain and it felt like something I swallowed didn't go all the way down. This went on for about a week. Then I got a rash all over my body. After being on steroids and some searching it turns out I was very allergic to my blood pressure med which was similar to a sulfa drug, which I am very allergic to. My doctor knew about the allergy but thought the risk was small. (A previous doctor had originally prescribed it) The pain was swelling inside. I only mention this so if they don't find anything else wrong you could ask about allergies. Let us know.

One time I was rushed by ambulance because we knew i had a heart murmer and i had sudden on set chest pain that would come and go. pain so intense that i gripped and i mean was squeezing so hard that my knuckles would go white on anything... It turned out to be a severe silent acid reflux attack. (did i ever feel like a fool LOL). Doctor didnt believe me til i was holding his hand and wham it came he kept saying let go ur hurting me...im like it hurrrrrtttttss. and told him to try childbirth out of ur chest and he'd feel what i am feeling. Thats when he figured out what was wrong LOL! Anyhow, you described like what I felt. It is like a heart attack, sudden onset, comes and goes. Thats why I mentioned my story. Maybe call GP and ask about Acid reflux, you could have silent gerd.

Well, after going to my doctor, I feel both better and worse. He really thinks that my strange symptoms are just that - strange symptoms that don't mean much. So I feel better about that. If my heartrate keeps speeding up to where it's really a nuisance, or gets even faster, I may have to wear a heart monitor again, something I did years ago, that yielded no answers. He'll monitor the thyroid situation.

What I'm upset about is that he told me you get a massive dose of radiation from the nuclear medicine they inject into you during a stress test. (That's NOT what the girl who injected me said! She said it was about like spending a couple of days outside.) He said it's the largest dose you get from anything except cancer treatment. Oh, thanks!!

Plus, the whole overnight hospital thing. Why can't they at least give you an ekg in Urgent Care? Save everyone a few hundred bucks??

Sending you some gentle hugs, Debbie. It must be frustrating for you not
to get a reason for your symptoms, but it is good that they will monitor you for
any changes. Hoping these symptoms just disapear for you.

I hear you about testing and costs...it's crazy. Don't get me started on healthcare
