I was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease and prescribed hydroxycholoquine and now diagnosed with fibromyalgia and prescribed cymbalta.  For those of you who have been on cymbalta, did it help?  What were the side effects?  Thank you.

Hi Ims and welcome to our fibro family. I took Cymbalta a long time ago and all it did was make me more tired than I already was. However I have heard alot of people say that it has worked wonders for them. Each one of us so different in what we can tolerate as far as meds, so what doesnt work for one of us is probably a totally different story for someone else. You really do have to try it for yourself to see how your body reacts. Im glad you have joined us here and feel free to ask questions, vent or offer advice to others.

I took cymbalta for several months. It didnt seem to help me all that much. It did make me more tired but I have heard that it helped others so its worth a shot? Hope it helps you!

Cymbalta really didn't have any side effects for me. I'm pretty happy with it. Altho I would find out which meds interfer with it.

I've been on Cymbalta for several months now, and aside from the first three days of horrible nausea, I've had no other problems that I can directly attribute to it. I do take several other meds and I am dealing with some Serotonin Syndrome issues, but overall, I've found it helpful.

I've been on Cymbalta for fibro for about 6 weeks. I have had only one side effect which was insomnia. I still have pain and muscle issues but it has helped tone it down a level. Hope that helps.

I have been taking Cymbalta for about 1 year now and I feel pretty good. The first few weeks after starting it, I would sweat like crazy, but that went away.

The only thing I noticed with Cymbalta was weight gain. Other than this, it really helps fibromylgia. I stopped taking it because it made me gain weight.

I'm on day one (took it last night for the first time) and I an sick in my tummy!! Hope it goes away. I've eaten a bowl of soup and sipped 2 cups of tea. I feel like I ate thanksgiving dinner!

Msbunky and MrsMike - Watch mixing tramadol and Cymbalta!  They both increase serotonin.  I wouldn't dare take them together after having serotonin syndrome from mixing Flexeril and tramadol and just taking one extra small tramadol. 

I just started Cymbalta last night and I'm up with a headache and insomnia.  So far I haven't had a positive effect, as I just had to take the Vicodin again.  I'm supposed to take Cymbalta plus Robaxin, but I'm trying them out separately because I need to know what effects they will have.  Flexeril was about as effective as Tylenol and gave me a headache.

I am in the process of stopping Cymbalta.

It made me more angry, and more easily irritated. I have gained 25 pounds. I have horrid sweating episodes. And NO real lessening of pain.

Blah. But each body is different.
