how does your doctor teat your fibro?

I, like you, went searching to see what others take because I was (am) trying to be as pain free as possible. Seems like it varies from person to person and its best to do trial and error what works for one does not another.

I was combining darvicot and aleeve for breakthrough pain and it helped but they pulled the darcicot off the market. I am now going to try ultram, hope it works if not I'll be a pain and bug her to try something else. Neuronotin is good for nerve pain but not muscle pain if i have it right. I take the neurontin at night and then need something in the am to get moving. Good luck sometimes we have to be aggresive when it comes to getting pain meds and I have always been passive so its challenging. I just think about what my lyme doc always said its not just that u are uncomfortable its not good for the body to have that pain. He was( is )a wonderful man and I went to him for many years until i lost ins and felt that i just couldn't take antibiotics anymore but it was mostly money and the long long car ride. The only thing that has helped me so far is tramadol (Ultram) 50 mg 3 - 4 times a day. The extended release didn't relieve pain and gave me serotonin syndrome more than the instant release.

I gave up on Neurontin and Cymbalta. I felt better off them. Getting off Neurontin was not a lot of fun. I haven't found a muscle relaxant that works except diazepam 2mg, taken only once in the middle of the night when the tramadol wears off.

OTCs like NSAIDS don't help much, but Advil does potentiate tramadol a little and helps a tiny bit on non-fibro pain.

I am still in the trial and error stage of things. Side effects keep hampering my progress.

As of today, I am starting Savella with Buspar. I started on Savella in August, but had to quit a few weeks later due to the development of intolerable headaches and bruxism. They put me back on my Prozac, and then I developed headaches with that (even though I have been on SSRI's for years).

Somewhere along the way we tried Lyrica and that has been "so-so". The Savella provided much greater pain relief. The doc added some flexeril on an as-needed basis. Along the way, irritability/anxiety/depression symptoms returns, so she tried an older-style antidressant (amitriptylene). That has been awful to deal with because I want to sleep around the clock, always groggy, mind in a fog, no ambition. She thought maybe it would settle down after a few weeks, but it hasn't.

Yesterday I was reading in a dental association Journal how some have had success combining buspar with their SSRI and it relieved the headaches. So I mentioned it to her. She checked things out a bit and got back to me today and said she wanted to try the Buspar in conjunction with the Savella. I am excited and hopeful!!

When I first started taking Savella I saw huge differences and felt like I had gotten "my life back". I was more energetic, pain had gone away -- it was like a miracle... only to have that wonderful feeling come crashing down a few weeks later when the headaches made me think my head was going to explode.

If this combination works, I will be doing cartwheels of joy!!!

I also take Vitamin D, B12 and injections, magnesium (bloodwork showed severe deficiencies in these three areas), and take omega 3, multivitamin -- and percocet for the worst days!
