Hi I'm new to this site and also newly diagnosed although I as well as my dr believe I've been suffering for years. I was wondering if anyone else seems to suffer with nausea and vomiting before/during a flare up? It seems to be a warning for me right after the hot flash. So I was just seeing if anyone else experienced this as well...thanks in advance! Soft hugs to all!

Hi, Hippychick, and welcome!  I'm so glad  you found us and joined in.  I will get nausea occasionally but rarely.  But I do know that some members have more of a nausea issue with fibro.  It seems to be one of the symptoms but we all don't have every symptom...thank goodness!  Hopefully others will pop in and share their experiences with nausea.

 

Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there. 

 

By the way, I gave you a subject line so the members will know to stop by and greet you!  We have wonderful members here that love to help one another and, as a bonus, we really do care about each other, too!  I think  you will like it here.

Hi Hippychick,

Welcome! I am somewhat of a newbie to this site and I find it very helpful! I too have problems with nausea. It always seems to get worse before/during a flare. I've noticed that when I'm in immense amounts of pain my body responds by being nauseous and I and I sometimes lose my appetite. The intense nausea and loss of appetite was actually one of my persistent symptoms in the few months leading up to my diagnosis.

I went to a pain management clinic and was working with an occupational therapist on getting rid of my tender points (which I failed at). Not only was this the most painful thing I have ever done, but even with only the smallest amount of pressure for a few minutes, I was going to vomit. When I asked the OT about my body's response to the pain he said that some people do actually throw up from pain. I found this very interesting and I notice now that when I have terrible costochondritis pain I tend to feel very nauseated as well and gag.

So as Sherrine said, not everyone is lucky enough to have the nausea, but I think those of us that have it get it really bad. Especially during flare ups. Hope this helps.

Thank u all so much for sharing and thank you for adding a subject. Its really good to know I'm not alone although id wish this upon no one! Again thanks for any and all advice! I have been reading the 101 very very helpful. Thanks!
