Need your thoughts, please

I have fibro and OA and EIO.  I had to stop taking my Plaquenil a few weeks ago due to an allergic reaction.

I am in SO much pain now. I don't know if it is the fibro or one of the types of arthritis. This may sound ridculous, but my hands hurt, my wrists hurt, my knees, legs, feet and ankles hurt.  My neck and my shoulders hurt, too. I tried to not take any pain meds.  That didn't last long. I am trying to figure out if it is the Fibro or the arthritis causing all this pain. I guess it could be both.

I have tender points all over...at the base of my thumbs, etc. My joints are just not doing well. They are stiff and sore, and all I want to do is curl up, get warm, and sleep.

What do you all think? 

My rheumatologist is "thinking" about what to do next, but I haven't called him to tell him about all this increase in pain, yet.

What is EIO? Wish I could help. Apparently, I have some OA too, and I don't know either which pain is which.

I agree with Kat, talk to your doctor as soon as possible so he can try to give you some relief. Good luck!

Vannie, I'm sorry you are hurting this much.  It most likely is a little of both bothering you.  I know if I forget to take my ibuprofen I'll feel it in my joints...at least it feels that way.  Your tendons, ligaments and muscles in the joint area are what is really hurting...if it is the fibro. 

 

No matter what,  you do need something to help get in control of the pain.  I'm not sure if the doctor can even tell whether it's fibro or arthritis that is causing this but you need some type of anti inflammatory, it seems to me.  I think Plaquenil is one and now that you can't take it you are really feeling the pain.  My husband had rheumatoid arthritis and was on that.

 

Please let us know what you find out when you see your doctor.

Thank you all for your responses. I just got off the phone. First I called my rheumy and found out he is out of the country until January 14th. They didn't offer to call a backup doctor for me or anything, so I called my NP who was also out of her office. But, I left a message w/the receptionist. She is a nice person and familiar w/my medical record and she knows I am generally not a complainer. I told her I was on the verge of tears and that the pain has gotten intolerable even w/the tramadol. It takes the edge off, but I don't like the way it makes me feel and it makes me tired. I am only taking 4 mg of prednisone at the moment, prescribed by the rheumy to get me "through the holidays". I asked if my NP might write a script for a higher dosage of prednisone for a couple of weeks until the rheumy gets back and can decide what he wants to do next. When I was taking Plaquenil, I was doing wonderfully well. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to the drug after six months and had to discontinue taking it. Maybe there is something else she could prescribe, but I can't take NSAIDs, so I don't know what else there is out there. Thank you all for being so kind and listening to me ramble. It really helps to talk to people who know what real pain is.
