Haveing Surgery

 

I am having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in my knee on Friday. Does tearing ones meniscus seem to be a problem with Fibro? I noticed somebody else on here has them too.

 

I have meniscus tears in both my knees. I had a terrrible fall and that is how it happened. I do not think that it has anything to do with the fibro because the fall happened about 17 years ago and I was diagnosed with fibro only about 3 years ago.

I have opted out of the surgery for now because I have so much else going on and the pain is usually under control with the tramadol and ibuprofen.

I have fibro, but my meniscus tear was due to an accident.

fwiw, It is not necessary to have a medication for anxiety and amnesia, like Versed, for this procedure. Your doc will be really happy though, if you agree to anesthesia, not just a local, so he can manipulate the leg. I agree to only propofol, and I get my brain back immediately after the surgery is over.

You could actually walk out after surgery, but the hospital won't allow you to unless you have a walker or crutches. I recommend the walker. Borrow one or check Goodwill or Salvation Army for a used one. You probably won't use it at home much. If you don't bring your own the hospital sells you one at inflated price.
