Update On New Rheumy Appointment

Hello my Fibro Family,

I went for my consultation on 1/4/11 with the pain management doctor for the C3 epidurals and he said he didnt think I needed the epidurals after he checked me he said he feels that I do have fibro and wanted me to start taking Savella for my fibro and Topamax and Imitrex for my migraines he also suggested that I talk to a psychiatrist and I really lost it I took it as he was saying or thinking i was making this whole pain thing up or i was crazy because I broke down crying when he told me that I should talk to the Psychiatrist and he set me up for an appointment see one. I explained to him that I had concerns with taking the Savella due to me having high blood pressure he suggested I try it anyway.

I called my rheumys office for an appointment asap to find out if I should take the new meds or not and told they told me to come in right away my rheumy and his nurse were very upset due to the fact that they sent me to a specialist for a consultation for the C3 Epidural and he diagnoses me with fibro and they are now sending me somewhere else because they say if the doctor wont treat me for what they sent me there for then they will send me to one that will. I am really having a hard time dealing with this due to the fact that this rheumy just doesnt want to say i have fibro even though all of my tests have come back normal except for the MRI of my neck I still havent gotten the sleep study test back yet. so I still dont know what to think I have 2 doctors now that say that i have fibro and 1 that says I have fibro like symptoms I understand that this doctor is trying to rule out everything else out but he still wouldnt let me talk about my symptoms at all but I did get the nurse to look at my paper that I wrote all of my symptoms down on and she told me that the reason I have all over body pain is because of my cervical discs and that if i get some relief from the pain in my neck I will feel a whole lot better and the all over body pain will go away I beg to differ I dont feel that all of my pain is from my cervical discs I am having multiple symptoms that I dont feel are from that. I also asked about my intense hip pain and burning but they dont want to address that right now but sometimes I cant even walk. I now have to go and get more blood work done because i mentioned that i have 3 other family members with Sjogren's Syndrome , Lupus and Raynaud's syndrome so we will see what happens when that comes back my Rheumy said to me that I need to stop dwelling on the fibro diagnoses and he is the doctor and he has been featured in and voted for in 100 top doctors and that he is good friends with Donald Trump he is very arrogant and I dont give a d*** if he new the president.

Stacy, I agree with you, he sounds like an arrogant jerk! It is hard when you don't know who to go with....but a doctor who won't even let you talk, that right there is a red flag in my book. Sure, tests and labwork is important, but so is hearing what the person experiencing the pain actually feels! Ooh, I get so mad at these people sometimes! Sorry you're having to go through this.

Stacy, I feel your frustration!

Years ago, my first rhuemy told me after an hour length exam...
You are not going to be an easy one to diagnose...I already had
disc problems at the time and had back surgery. He said the pain
I had could be related to my Degenerative Disc Disease.

Lots of bloodwork was done, everything was negative. X-rays were taken and I was told I had early onset osteoarthritis, but he
also suspected that I had an autoimmune disease disease going on. Since then my list of diagnoses grew.

Six years and 2 differant rheumys later the puzzle came together.
Bloodwork did change. My present rheumy sent me to a number of specialists for their input.

The best doctors are those who listen, are very thorough, not afraid to say they don't know something...go the extra step to find other specialists to partner with to help you.
