Hi Nikki -
I never liked milk much as a kid, stopped drinking it for many years as an adult. Then I figured out I was just lactose intolerant and Lactase tablets don't work unless you chew up at least 4 BEFORE ingesting the first mouthful of milk or ice cream. Lactaid milk is fine. I tolerate some brands of yogurt.
If you can't tolerate even Lactaid milk you have to look into the other proteins (casein and whey) being the problem. True milk allergy can be very serious.
Lactose is added to so many products - soups, bread, processed foods of many types.
Since lactose intolerance is a sensitivity, not an "allergy" you may tolerate a little. With intolerances/sensitivities it's often the amount you eat that triggers the reaction.
Can you get away with yogurt? Try Activia, which works best for me. Some other brands seem to have fillers, maybe powdered milk, or maybe they are just not denatured enough.
I don't think lactose intolerance has anything to do with my fibro. I've had the sensitivity all my life, fibro only more recently.
