DON'T try this at home~

OK, that's a bit silly but seriously, be very careful with the medications you take and never let your guard down of your body could end up like mine...One Giant blister Hives. I don't think there's a small spot of skin that isn't red and welted up.

And why? Because hubby's workplace didn't offer the plan we've been on, I've had to switch to similar medications to keep from going broke. Doc wanted to introduce them a couple at a time and now I sure can see why. We're now trying to guess which medication might be the culprit.

The copays for my medications is what skyrocketed and forced this problem One of my medications I take for Ulcerative Colitis went from $80/3 months to $1000/3 months. Another went from $20/1 month to near $400/1 month. That particular new medication causes horrid nausea but I tried.

Sorry if this is disjointed but my head is full of benadryl. I just wanted you to learn something from my lesson. Not sure what other choice I had but hopefully in the next 48 hours or so my skin will come back to normal.

Chutz, ouch!!!! That is the pits and about the insurance is the pits. Maybe you can get the companies to GIVE you a month or so worth of the original meds then start changing one at a time. Even your Dr office might have samples to give, mine does.

I had a reaction to minocin for acne years ago. I did not get hives but huge lumps. Looked like I had 6 kneecaps and as many elbows but thye ones on my butt were awful. Every pressure point. It took a shot if cortizone to get it under control.

I just recently lost all my insurance so I understand the financial strain. My husband had to quit work after 25 years due to chronic Asthma and we always had the best medical insurance. We are both too young for social security.   I was laid off work shortly after so I couldn't count on my employer either.  Now we are both off work with very little income and needing meds.  My doctor suggested I call around to different pharmacy's to find out cost for my meds.  I don't think they are allowed to reccommend a pharmacy but she said even Sam's club can fill my scripts without a membership.  Thankfully I didn't have bad fibrofog that day.    I picked up on her hint and quickly called Sams club.  I was just amazed at the low cost of the meds.  Even the higher cost meds I can get for 1/3 of the price at other pharmacy's.   If you don't have Sams close by just call around to all your pharmacy's they will tell you exactly what the cost is.  Best of luck to you!

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. It must be the pits to have to change meds. I hope that you were able to keep your pain medication, but that is expensive. My insurance is covering less and less all the time. And my premiums are more and more. But what can you do? You do the best that you can with what you have. Could you check into any state programs to see if you qualify. There are often programs that we don't know about and have to inquire, sometimes the doctor's office even knows of some. Know that we all are thinking of you and praying for you.

Poor Chutz! Have you tried Alavert and other antihistamines that don't make you sleepy? Maybe your doc would prescribe prednisone, if you can take that.

most of the time If you get in touch with the company that makes the meds you need, they will help you with affordability.. hope this helps !
