Hi.  I have been taking tramadol regularly for a few months and I really like it, but I have waking up in the middle of the night sweating. It really bothers me because I have a hard time sleeping and, of course, that makes me hurt even more.  I only take one 50mg tablet in the morning and another one in the afternoon.  I don't take it after 2:00 p.m. because I have a hard time sleeping if I take it any later.  I would appreciate any ideas on how to stop the sweating.  I don't really want to stop taking the tramadol because it works pretty good and I can afford it.  I can't really afford any of the other meds right now.  Thanks!

Hi, I honestly don't know what to do about the sweating.  I have had night sweats for years especially after a hysterectomy but even for 20 years before that.  I think most of our meds can cause sweating and I really just kind of go with it, sorry not much help.

Hi, im taking tramadol and im not really suffering with the sweating. i get a few nights where i do sweat alot, but then i'll be fine.
I take 3 tramadols a day and i find they help me to sleep. it might be worth going to a pharmasist and just explain to them whats going on and they might have some ideas to stop you from sweating so much.

I'm sorry i cant be of much help, i just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one that sweats with tramadols.

I don't get sweats from tramadol, but I have gotten them from lots of other meds. The other thing that gave me sweats was menopause.

You might try the extended releast tramadol for evening. It doesn't give the mood elevation or as good pain relief as the instant release, but it doesn't keep me awake either.

I take Ambien to get off to sleep, and with the small amount of nighttime pain relief I can at least go back to sleep when I wake up during the night. Ambien acts very quickly but doesn't last very long. You take it just as you are hopping into bed. There's no hangover in the morning.

i HAVE TRIED TRAMADOL AND I DID GET EXTREMELY FLUSHED FEELING.  THE REASON I HAD TO QUIT TAKING IT IS THAT I FELT LIKE I WAS HAVING AN ASTHMA ATTACK EVERYTIME I TOOK IT.

I take three or four Tramadol a day for pain. I take a Soma (muscle relaxant) at night so that I can sleep. The Tramadol has never given me night sweats. I also take Lexapro, and that definitely gives me really intense night sweats two to three times a week.

I, too, take tramadol. I take 2, three times a day. I don't get the night sweats but I can tell you that if you decide to go off it, go very slowly.

tramadol has terrible withdrawel symptoms. If you take 2 tramadol everyday (in the am and afternoon) and have been doing so for quite some time, it could be that you are having withdrawel symptoms while you are sleeping. I cannot miss a dose or I get them (aggrevated, irritated, restless leg and lower back syndrome and sweats). Could this possibly be the cause of your sweats?

Thanks everyone. Denita, I agree with you about nightly withdrawals. I had actually already come to that conclusion and decided to go ahead and get off of them. But I didn't get off slow. I thought maybe it would be ok since I was only taking 2 a day. I was wrong. I was pretty miserable for a couple of days, but then it got better. It has been 5 days since I took the last one and last night was the first decent sleep I have had. Still sweated alot, but it was better.

I take both Tramadol (50 mg/4 times a day) and Lexapro (10 mg/day) too but have never had sweating problems with either of them except for withdrawal symptoms. I agree with mscrowbar that the withdrawal is probably your issue. I had terrible flu-like symptoms when trying to come off of it and I also get them if I forget to take it after just a few hours. Tramadol also makes me unable to fall sleep when I take it, though it does make me sleepy sometimes.

Yes, it would make me sleepy too, but I couldn't fall asleep with it. It was really weird. It was almost like I would nearly stop breathing. Oh well, I'm off of them now and sleeping better now, so I am going to try the malic acid. A nurse friend of mine said that apple cider vinegar could help too. When I looked it up, I saw that it contains malic acid.

I appreciate everyone's replies. I am not new to fibromyalgia, ( I have had it for over 20 years) but I am new to the medicine. I have always just been able to deal with it until just a few months ago.

I take tramadol 100 mg, three times a day...i didnt notice any sweating with that. Now i take savella and lyrica and i had an episode of sweating with that, or maybe it is just a woman thing? (i am 43 yrs old)

I was just started on Tremadol. I tend to get a headache and I am only taking 1 tab per day. I tried to do 3 times per day, but I got a migraine. Somehow it affects my sinus and induces migraines so I only take 1 and I will see how that works for me.

The tramadol works well for me. I do get the sweats, well more like overheated and tired and I too can't fall asleep on them. But they do help with the pain so I'll tolerate it. It really makes me groggy too. So I really only use for breakthrough pain. However, the "Fibro medicines" aren't working for me due to major side effects so I might have to take it everyday. I have a 3 yr old that I have to take care of and that also makes it hard to take the medicine but we'll see what I do. Good luck with you trying to find something.

Oh, as a side note. I can't take the generic brand. I have to have the name brand. The generic makes me sick and doesn't take the pain away.
