Hi, Morgan, and welcome! Well, I would become the proverbial "squeaky wheel" in this situation. You were not diagnosed with anything when you got your insurance. You have been paying your premiums on time (I hope) so you didn't know you had this illness to begin with. I also have Crohn's disease. It probably was festering in me for years but when I got the diagnosis, my insurance continued to cover me. I wasn't being deceptive at all when I took out my insurance policy.
Insurance should cover you...not drop you. If I were to get insurance and had a preexisting illness, they don't cover it for the first six months. That's how Aetna did things. I'm now on Medicare so things might have changed. But, read over your policy. Everybody gets sick at times in their lives. Are they all dropped because they had this misfortune? I don't think so because that's one reason why we carry the insurance and pay the premiums.
So, I'd call the company. If they wouldn't reinstate you, I just bet your local news media would be interested in this story. That is just not right!
When you get a chance, be sure to check out Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.
I'm glad you found us and joined the family. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Let us know how things go for you because we really do care about you.
