NO CPAP!!!!

Went to the pulmonoligist yesterday.  First they did a breathing test and I was really worried because I smoke (I know, I know, I should quit)  I passed the flipping test with flying colors!!!! :-)    So then I see the doctor.........I only had 10 or so episodes during REM sleep and that is not enough for C-PAP.  So I just use oxygen at night like I have been doing and I am now used to it.

I also got the MRI of my lumbar spine right after YEA, YEA!!!!  I will find out the results early next week sometime.  Now I just have the biopsy on the thyroid on the 21st.  I just seemed like a never ending list of doctor stuff.  Almost done!! yeah

Congrats!  I'm happy for you, Denise.  I hope all the other tests turn out good, too.

Hi, everyone tells smokers to quit but in reality a smoker quits when they are ready not because someone tells them to.

Why did you have this test done? hope you don't mind me asking?

It does seem like as soon as the Dr visits start its one after another to another and test after test. I hope the rest of your tests and appointments turn into good news.

I know the feeling. I have many doctor's appointments plus some dental stuff to do this month. Plus a therapy session the day before my physical. I try not to think of it too much or I start to stress out with it. Just do it. But I dread it all. Would rather hybernate in this winter weather. lol...

Oh and it sames the same way with paying bills. Once you get the last one paid, the first one rolls around again. And refilling prescriptions, it is never ending. Mine don't all renew at the same time each month so I am constantly going to the pharmacy. lol...

Thanks all. Grandma, I had a sleep study and my oxygen saturation went down to 70 where it should be 95 - 100. At the doctors yesterday it was 97 - 98. So that was good.

Karen, I know all about the scripts. I started sneaking in a few days early when I could and trying to hold off and somehow I ended up all at the same time. Now they come in the mail, 3 months at a time YES!!

I have my doctor order all the prescriptions at the same time.  Then I pick up a month's worth once a month.  Also, this way they all expire at the same time, too.  He would write them for a three month supply but it's too much money for me at one time.

Hey Denise I am so happy that you dont have to have the cpap machine and I am praying that you get good results with all your other tests.

I know what you mean about the doctor visits. I have had so many doc visits, surgeries, procedures, MRI's, scans........I don't know sometimes if I am coming or going. And, none of them have been related to the fibro.

Please don't let the biopsy worry you. It is a bit uncomfortable but not overly painful and also remember that over 95% of nodules, cysts are benign.

Glad everything, so far, is good. I am sure the rest will be too.

Hi Denise, so its good news you don't need the CPAP machine : )

btw I smoked for over 30 years and have been smoke free for 2 months now but it had to be my decision

Denise, did they give you any reason why your oxygen saturation goes down? The reason I ask is that my sleep doctor told me after my sleep study that I didn't have sleep apnea, but like you, my oxygen sats went down in the 70s while I slept. He told me I'd have to either lose weight or move to sea level (I live at 7650 feet). He hinted at my weight being the cause, so I wondered what they told you as a cause.

It's my personal belief that low oxygen saturation at night might have something to do with fibro -either it's a contributing factor or a cause. I think it is something they should certainly do some research on.

bwfm, They did not really give me a reason.  My weight is fine.......well OK I could lose the 7 lbs I gained this winter but at 136 being 5'4" I don't think is overweight.

I have oxygen to use only at night.  The pulmonary doc said it can possibly get worse but not anytime soon, years from now. 

It was also never mentioned to move which I would not do.

Doc said that my breathing got real shallow when my oxygen dropped.

If you find anything out please let me know and maybe oxygen at night will help.  Someone, somewhere said that oxygen levels that low was a reason for medicare to pick up the tab for the oxygen but I don't know.
