back from isolation

Good to have you back.
I'm sure reading every ones posts to catch up will keep you busy for the day.

I will be holding you in my heart until after Tue.

Glad you made it through the isolation. Did the radiation make you feel bad or flare up more? If so, it must have been awful to have a throat infection and radiation. Hope the next few days go by quickly for you so you can hug those babies and that they find you cancer free on Tuesday.

Oh my, I am not sure how to respond to that.

I, too, have had many close calls and pulled thru them all. So, I would like to believe that this is just another one of "those" and I have to pray that my time is not running out(so to speak).

1) went in to get my "filter" put in for an upcoming surgery and while they were watching the dye run thru found a very large blood clot in the very top of my right leg. The surgery was cancelled, I had to spend 4 days in the hospital on heparin therapy and 6 months of getting blood checked before they would reschedule the surgery.

2) I came thru the gastric surgery with flying colors but several months later started violently vomiting and after 2 days went to the er. Was admitted and told had blockage and if it didn't clear by itself within the next 24/48 hours they would have to go back in. Well, thank god, it cleared up.

3) Not even a year later I started having severe abdominal cramps. It was my gall bladder. I had it taken out. breezed right thru the surgery but somehow while on the table they cut the cornea in my right eye. The pain for that was three times worse than the surgery itself. I had to have a specialist come in, have meds in my eye for several weeks, wear an eye patch for a few days.

4) I had severe pain in my kidney area and went to the er. They told me that I had 5 kidney stones and sent me to a specialist. The 5th and smallest stone (2.3) was the last to be removed. two weeks before the surgery date it moved on me and I had to have an emergency surgery to take it out. In 2 1/2 months time it had gone from being 2.3 cent. in size to 10.5 cent in size. Almost unheard of. But I havent had one since - at least that I am aware of.

5) There are many others but most have to do with the fibro, and all of the other "things" you can get with it. Low iron, b-12, vitamin d, calcium, potassium......

6) then I get hit with the thyroid and cancer. First they were going to just take out the left, then because of the cancerous nodule took out the right too. then found that the right side had cancer too. The chance that that could happen falls in the 5% and I fell into it too. But the chance that it may have spread is even less and I have to have faith that it was all contained and with this last radiation pill, all gone. I am a cancer survivor and pray to stay one.

I know that just under the surface I wonder too when I am going to run out of luck and have something happen to me that cannot be fixed but I really try to stay positive. I have pulled thru so many things that I know that I am a fighter and I am not going to go down easily.

Tomorrow I go for the all over body scan and soon after should hear the news that I am cancer free. How long will it be before you get your news?
I will pray that you fall into the 95% and that all your nodules are benign. Please keep me posted.

I am trying to avoid the surgery route too, on my knees. I have some issues that are accident related, age related and just plain old tough luck related. Add them all up and ......knee replacement. But, the doctor says they are only guaranteed for about 10 years and I am just 50. So, the longer I can wait the better. After all these surgeries I've just had since the new year, Im really not looking forward to one anyway. But, some days these poor knees really give me some trouble and the meds just barely take the edge off and other days one would never even guess that I had knee problems.
