Question for long timers: I'm noticing a cycle of having migraines along with vomiting

Jerrie, I suffered for many years with migraines accompanied with vomiting...I don't think it is uncommon. I'm lucky that my migraines are now far and few between. I have found eating popsicles helped some. My worst years of migraines were during perimenopause and menopause and typically lasted 2-3 days. Now days, my migraines are usually occular with little or no pain and nausea. I took Imitrex and it was hit or miss in the relief department.

I agree that it does feel like food poisoning. Let your doc know if you haven't already. Wishing you the best and hope those migraines end!

That sounds exactly like the awful migraines I used to get, too, when I was a new mother. Apparently there's a nerve (Vagus?) that runs from the head to the stomach, and migraines affect it. Ooh, the bad old days! Now I rarely get them, and they're never as severe.

My daughter also got them from a very young age, and seems to have outgrown them, at least for now.

Midrin is what finally helped me. Something different (forget what) helped her. I hope you find something, because they are pure Hell.

I've had many years too of migraine w/vomiting plus the dizziness/light-sound sensitivity/etc. My doc also thinks I get migraines without the headache (but you have all the other stuff). I'm not too sure if he isn't simply confusing bad Fibro days because he can't process you can feel that crummy without a headache. Anyway, I used to get them multiple times in a month but they did some jiggling with my hormones and that helped bring them down to 2/3 x's a month now depending. Maxalt-MLT works really well for me. I used to have to try to get an aspirin in before I started throwing up. This is much better plus you only take it when you get a migraine, not every day. I also know it looks silly but it can help to pull your hair up from the crown and back in a soothing, repetitive manner. Does something with the nerves running around your scalp.

I was feeling better yesterday and then Bam, it came again. I called in for Imitrex at the pharmacy but had not one to go and get it for me.. I'm not sure what is bringing this on but I'm doing eveything in my power not to have it again...or not so soon..took a hot bath this am..rested..went out on the deck, the rested. I've been rubbing my biofreeze on my shoulders and neck and that seems to be helping..

I am going to just REST for a few days..it's a hard pill to swallow that this may be because I've done to much the past 2 weeks..in my mind though it hasn't been way out of the norm..but my body is telling me other wise..It will be a year in June that I stop working..

Sherrine, I want to be like you! I want to only take Ibuprofen and stretches (which I do ) ...I haven't been to church in weeks..but I know it will get better.

Thanks agin everyone for your comments...My grandosn is getting his award for Social Studies and I'm going I don't care if my Hubby has to carry me in! HAHAHA!

fibronana, I was getting cycles of puking that would last 2 - 3 days for 2 years and it would take a week to recover. This was happening about every 3 months. I would feel nausated out of the blue, open my mouth and out it would come. Ended up getting an endoscope which showed gastritis. I don't think they were coming the same time as my migraines tho. It was and is awful even tho it doesn't happen as often and doesn't last as long.

Many times still when I am driving I get nausated and always look for somewhere to pull over quickly, so far I haven't had to.

I have no idea what the answer is but wish I did.
