Anyone try the GUAIFENESIN Protocol

Since I joined this group, I have a learned a lot. Recently I came across the guaifenesin protocol for fibromyalgia treatment. You can find info. about it here: http://www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com/GuaiProtocol.htm

I am curious as to whether or not anyone has tried this. The protocol itself seems pretty simple and easy to implement. I am thinking about trying it because...well, why not? I am in no way associated with the group or doctor on the web site, so please don't think I am suggesting it or pushing it... I am just looking for answers like the rest of you!

Thanks, and let me know if you have tried this, what you think, etc.

We've had discussions about this before and it really doesn't work...at least no member said it did.  I know I've taken Muscinex for long periods of time and haven't had any difference in how I feel...except it makes me cough and loosens mucous.

This protocol has been totally disproved in double blind studies at some major universities... several years ago. So long ago that I don't remember the schools! Don't go there. The underlying premise that the protocol was based on was flawed. It's a waste of your time and money. We used to have a member who was so in awe of this program that she started a website about it and tried to get everyone to try it. She was banned from HW, (TWICE!!!) and her website is now defunct. If you want the latest on fibro research Dr. Daniel Clauw from the University of Michigan has some real research and actual-factual stuff where you can read about the latest developments with fibro. He's pretty much devoted his research and the facilities at his disposal (U of M & Georgetown U) to trying to help us.

Thank you for the site. I am going to read about him. I read about the guai diet as it was called. There were so many things that you had to avoid, salicylites (sp). Which seemed to be in just about everything. I was so disappointed when I got to the end of his book and read that. I can't remember the author's name right now. Why am I not surprised??? But reading the book was actually a waste of my time. lol.
