Surgery and fibro

I'm scheduled for surgery on 6/2 to have a ganglion cyst removed from my wrist. I'm hesitant to do it because of what I've heard about surgery kicking off a flare, but it's been very painful for five years and I'm desperate to get rid of any pain in my life if I'm able to do so. They're doing a block instead of general anesthesia. What should I look out for or expect, if anything?

Nope, no draining. My family doc said he didn't think it would do any good-it'd just refill. The ortho I saw yesterday didn't even bring up the idea. The first ortho I was referred to 18 months ago said the lump was arthritis and gave me a cortisone shot. The pain lessened somewhat for a while but the bump didn't change.

I am the cyst queen! lol I've only had 3 surgically removed, only because they became infected. One of which was right over my salivary gland by my right ear - that one I was knocked out for but the other 2, I just had local injections. If I have a large cyst, the doctor will drain it, sometimes shoot it with a steroid and wrap a bandage very tight against the spot to prevent "refill". I've had approximately 75 cysts over the course of my lifetime - some come and go but others I need to take care of. Btw, when I had surgery to remove the cyst, I never had an issue with my fibro acting up nor have I ever had any issues with it with my other unrelated surgeries. But everyone is different on how their body is going to react to the stress of the whole situation.
