I need a doctor that works for me. And for what I need. I know what that is now, because it works. I am not pain free, but not in a flare state either. I think that feeling comfortable with a doctor is a big plus. And I agree with your three Myself 09.

Yes, great topic!

1. treats me like a human being (cares) and not a freak case under a microscope - also doesn't keep things from me "for my own good"

2. will admit when he doesn't know something and tells me who might; curiosity and intelligence

3. positive energy and sense of humor - I always feel better when I leave!

1. A doctor who listens and truly wants to help

2. A doctor who has friendly staff; treats the patients with respect

3. A doctor who knows his field of practice and is willing to try different options until the right one is found


There are many others; however, these are the top 3.

1.  A doc with a sense of humor.

2.  One whom listens and actually hears what you are saying.

3.  And yes, one whom can admit he/she doesn't know something.

I totally agree, good looking helps.  Both my PCP's are good looking men.  My neuro is ok, but so jolly and happy-go-lucky, he's so fun to be around.

I like a doctor that will answer all my questions, even the stupid ones. And believe me there have been quite a few.

I like a doctor that explains why he is asking for the tests ordered and then explains what the results are and what that means to me.

I like a doctor/staff that understands when you call in about your health and will work you in even though the schedule is full.

I love a doctor that doesn't blame my flares/symptoms on my weight, lack of exercise or improper diet.

I love a doctor that starts the conversation out with "so sorry you're not feeling well" and ends the converstation with "hope you start feeling better".
