Is there a connection?  Do any of you fibromites have bunions?  They say it can be genetic, but there's no sign in my family.  They say it can be caused my muscle or ligament weakness or a neurological condition.  Please, is this yet another thing we have to deal with?

I know how you feel Gene,

It is like, not another symptom...If it is muscle related, it is most likely related to fibro. Not that all muscle related things are, but fibro seems to love to attack the muscles. My grandmother had bunions. I hope that I dont' get them myself. I guess they are rather painful. I hope that you get some relief soon.

I've had bunions on both feet, on one pretty big, since I was a young kid. They're not painful (for me, anyway) but then I don't provoke them. I WILL NOT cram my foot into a shoe that doesn't make allowances for them!

I have one on my right foot and often think I should do something because it does give me pain.  I worry that surgery may cause my neuropathy to get worse, so I just deal with it.  I thought bunions were a bone issue.

Well...I'm an Old Broad and a child of the 60's.  I used to cram my feet into shoes that had such pointed toes they could have been used as a weapon.  So...I have either a bone malformation or bunion on my right foot...the right is a half size bigger than my left.  Back then,  I was too vain to buy shoes that were too big instead of too small to accomodate the foot that was larger.  A surgeon wanted to shave off the bone and replace it with some kind of titanium ball...OWIE...no way.  But that was then and this is now and now I always buy shoes that are too big.  X-rays also revealed a stress fracture down the side of my foot that the doc claims had been there for years...it was from shoving my big feet into small shoes!  Don't ever do that!

My grandmother had them as I said earlier. She also wore shoes too small. Had to be in style I guess. lol...

I am 30 and have bunions in both feet. For me I have pain in the big toe joint, but no pain from the rubbing. As I understand it, that is not typical, and so I assume it is somehow the fibro. I got something called "bunion regulators" from Footsmart and they seem to help. They are basically splints you wear at night.
