I have Bipolar 1 disorder and a new fibro diagnosis - anyone else out there like me?

Hi everyone~

My BP is stable - thank you Jesus - and I'm just learning about how fibro manifests itself with me.

My new fibro diag. experience is exactly like my BP diagnosis.  Once I got my diagnosis with both, and started reading about them, I said over and over, "I didn't know THAT was a symptom!"

Well, I'm wondering what meds have worked well for you guys.  I'm on Lyrica (supposed to work as both fibro med and mood stabilizer), Klonopin, Effexor, and Adderall.  The brain fog still SUCKS!!!!!

Have any of you w/ BP tried Savella???

I'd love to hear from others like me!

Hi rHudson and Welcome,

I dont have bipolar,but I'm on Stavella for 3 months approx.,and at first I thought It helped little with energy, but really has not improved pain or fatigue much at all. I was hopeful at first.

Spoke to pain management physician and
she recommended Cymbalta. I will probably switch next week ,after weaning.Everyone responds differently to medications,so its really hard to know,until you try it.
I lost 10 lbs with Stavella,because no appetite.
Good luck and there is a lot of good information on here to help.

Everyone has different diagnoses including fibromyalgia.

@sagescott -- I am on Cymbalta for depression and doc thought it could help with fibro pain too, but I have been on it since 4/11 and though it has helped with depression, no luck on the pain managment :(  I dont want to increase the dose to see if that would help either. I am all about lowest effective dose possible. I do have Flexeril and can only take 5mg once in a while in the evening, that way I get good REM sleep, but hard to wake up and get to work on time next day!!! 

I am interested in other meds that might be helpful that would calm the pain, but not mess with me mentally or make me sleepy! Tried Neurotin it messed with my mental health -- although got rid of the pain, and was told Lyrica would be almost the same so I did not try that. I have not tried hard drugs, and not sure I want to go there!
