Question about what dr to talk to...

Hi everyone,

I have been experiencing hip/leg pain mostly on my right side.  It gets worse at night and sometimes turns into restless  have had bursitis on that side before and had a cortisone shot and this was before the Fibro diagnosis so I had a orthopedic  dr give it to me.  Now that I have a rhumatologist, should I go to her for a possible shot? Or bring it to her attention and see what she recommends or go back to the ortho dr.

Lisa, I would mention it to your rheumy. My rheumy manages all my health care and is the one who referred me to all my specialists.

I too run everything thru my Rhmy.
My GP gave me some scripts but I checked with my Rhmy before I filled them.
Just felt like the right thing to do.

I am going on the other side of the fence with this one. I have fibro and I see a rheumy for it. I have issues with my knees ( meniscus tears and arthritis ) and I see an ortho for that. When my knee (especially my left one) really bothers me I see the ortho and he gives me the cortisone shots. He and the rheumy work together on what meds to give me so it helps to make sure both docs know what is going on.

Its sorta like with the thyroid. I see an endocrinologist for all my thyroid issues but an ENT surgeon is the one that took it out.

Of course there could be a referral issue and you would need your pcp or rheumy for that?
