I have to admit that there are days that even with meds that my pain is overpowering, I hurt all over and can't maintain a thought for more than a few seconds and its on days like that I get in the zone. I have an ortho chair set perfect for me, a rolling tea wagon I use for a desk and a small pallet and an easel. I find that I can tune out alot of crap by painting. I never think of my paintings being works of art I just started and they are beginner paintings. I am getting so far behind on my housework and have friends coming tomorrow night so tomorrow I will have to deal with things but when my pain gets to a 7 I will be zoning and leavin my housework for another day.
I hope others have a zone/place to let it out I think this has

I get this relief when I decorate wedding cakes. Things that take all of my concentration seem to keep the pain at bay for a short while.

My Zone is my computer.  I do genealogy and that isn't strenuous and it sure takes my mind off my pain.  I do hope everyone has a Zone.  Focusing on something besides how you feel really does make a difference and you are happier, too!  Good thread, Rose!

I zone out by watching netflex movie on my I pad in bed or couch.

We Debs think alike.  Music takes me away.  When I walk I take music with me.  I'm a real country fan, but also include rock music for walking...ZZ Top, AC/DC, Guns-n-Roses, anything that keeps up the pace.  Music keeps your mind busy, keeps you from thinking too much! smilewinkgrin

Aaahh The Zone!!! Yes, I get in the car and crank up the tunes sometimes classical, sometimes Eagles or my girl Bonnie Raitt. Also, when I can't go on, I listen to Lee Ann Womack sing "I hope you'll dance"...check it out or Kelly Clarkson "Breakaway" to remind me how awesome life and the earth are. Or "interview with God"-it kept me alive after Katrina

Or how about old family photos?

I am envious of everyone who can still listen to music, my hubby has music playing on his pod all the time but all it does for me now is drive me nuts. I can not even listen to tunes in the car because it bothers me so badly.
When I watch tv the volume is on the 3rd notch I turn it down the second hubby goes to bed because at 3/4 volume while he watches has given me a massive headache.
My hearing has become extremely sensitive.

I'm envious, too, Rose.  I can't hear music!  I had music in my life for many years and played 5 musical instruments but now am down to one...the only one I can hear well enough. But, I have found other things to fill in the void.  You will too.
