Thanks Alcie.
My take on the video wasn't that they were blaming mint for FM, but that FM patients tend to have chemical sensitivities which includes the chemical found in a lot of plants, such as mint (which has a high concentration). The chemical sensitivities bit coincides with the research that indicates FM patients suffer from a combination of central sensitization and hyperalgesia, which is why I have a little bit of faith in what the video was talking about
. I also think the vid is one in a series... I just haven't watched the others yet.
I have a severe gluten intolerance, plus reactive hypoglycemia. My food options are pretty limited. Unless I'm eating at a restaurant it's all whole foods with very few additions (like spice or sauces). Gluten encompasses things like colour, flavour, and even the "smoke" in bacon. I've "tested" the remaining food items by eliminating them for a period to see if I've had any improvements. I haven't found any thus far :s Mind you, it's a hard thing to spot.
Most mouthwashes contain mint as well, but we do use Listerine. It effectively kills everything in your mouth (which isn't always a good thing). I started using Listerine after my grandmother told me she used it to kill the lice on the residential kids
