question for those who take malic acid

I just came back from pre op for surgery I am having next week. The RN who was going over my medical history told me I needed to stop my arthritis med and fish oil now. I should have stopped yesterday but the dr's office did not tell me. Then this RN says she didn't know what malic acid was, so I should probably stop taking it too, until after surgery.

Has anyone else been told to stop malic/magnesium before surgery? I understand the other 2 meds because they thin the blood. Does malic?
It really, really helps me and I hate to stop it just because she didn't know what it was.

Malic acid is found in apples. I don't know if you need to stop it. Why don't you ask your pharmacist or call your doctor to be sure. That's what I would do. Remember, if you are taking the ones I take, they have magnesium in them, too, and I'm not sure about that either when you are having surgery.
