Missing socialization.

I'd wait a couple of days and then call her back and see if she wants to go out to lunch.  It was wonderful of her to call you and the fact that you were on her mind is good, too. 

 

Now, about call waiting.  I HATE call waiting.  I find it extremely rude.  We had it installed when we had one phone line and three teenagers.  That was the only way my husband and I would have received our calls in the evening.  I didn't get it when I moved to Florida but I just went with a package deal rrecently and it included call waiting.  I tried to have it shut off but they can't do that since it's part of the package.  I never use it unless I'm expecting a call from my doctor and I also let the other person know I might have to get off quickly.  That's the only time I use that feature.

 

I had a friend that kept doing that to me.  It makes you feel like you're not important....that the unknown caller is more important.  I don't think people realize just how rude that is.  Anyway, this friend did that to me one time too many and I told her that if she cut me off like that again, I would not talk to her on the phone except to make arrangements to go out to lunch.  She is always calling me for information about one thing or another and then I'm cut off.  So, she isn't doing that to me anymore.

 

I can totally understand why you have hurt feelings but, as I said before, I don't think people realize how rude that is.

I have recently changed the way I deal with friendships and relationships. I used to keep my CF/Fibro to myself. It cost me friendships and the socialization I need.

With my current group of friends, I have been upfront about my limitations. I have taken each person aside and explained that I don't want your pity, I just need you to listen and understand. I explain that the reason I don't show up to each social outing is because I physically can't. I may be either too tired or in too much pain. Use the Spoon Theory if it helps. I also let them know that being invited is really important to me, because I don't know in advance if i can make it, but it makes me feel included. I also mention that as much advance notice as possible helps me plan my activities so if it's something I want to do, I have a better chance of being up for going.

I have to remember that if I am feeling left out, I need to speak up and reach out and be the one to make a phone call or send an email, or text message (whatever is appropriate) and let them know I'm thinking of them and miss their company. It's tough when we feel overwhelmed just taking care of ourselves to maintain relationships and friendships, but the social interaction can do a world of good to our self esteem and well being.

Call waiting is so rude, like someone texting when you are talking to them, or going thru checkout while on your cell-where did our manners go? I guess I'm just an old fart-LOL

I guess what is so strange is that she calls me and says you have Ben on my mind for 3 weeks. Mention going out together then beep and she is gone. No return phone call. At least I know how I wouldn't handl a phone call like this.
