Update on my daughter for anyone interested.

Hi, I had posted about my daughter's MRI and her diagnosis brain tumor, thought I would give an update regarding her health.

She saw her endo who cleared her for a hysterectomy due to stage 4 endometrosis he said her leetle friend in her head appeared to be doing nothing and he preferred to do nothing with it until it shows activity. So she had a tumor rupture last year on her left ovary and she was diagnosed with endometriosis since then 2 more have appeared so her gyno wanted to remove them before they ruptured thus needing a clearance from endo for surgery.

Her hysterectomy was yesterday and she was in surgery for 4 hours, they removed a cantelope size tumor and her left ovary as well the endometrosis tissue was all over (stage 4) she also had adhesions. She was a mess inside according to surgeon and they had to remove a second tumor that had adhered to her bladder anyway as you can imagine she lost alot of blood so is being watched carefully.

While she is recovering I have her 2 daughters 6 & 10 and her huge dog. Thank goodness my meds got worked out because this is alot of extra work for me. I was at hospital twice yesterday because the 6 yr old was very upset missing her mama so what else can a person do, she certainly was happy after her second visit she got to cuddle with mama for 5 minutes and thats all she wanted.

My daughter is already asking to be released but I told her to get her pain managed before she comes home and tries to resume her life. She will be sore for awhile, and of course I will be staying with her until she is able to function without help.

Thanks for reading, I am in pain today from the extra stresses but am relieved that no cancer was found and they saved her an ovary so replacement hormones should not be needed. Now I'm getting us all ready to go see her again, hopefully her leetle friend slept through this procedure but this will not be known until later.

Rose, it is stressful but I know she will be just fine.  I feel weird telling you this because it seems I can always post and say "I've had that, too!"  But, honestly, I have!  I was five months pregnant at the time and was having extreme pain that would come and go.  I gained 7 pounds in a month and the gyno accused me of eating a lot of things...which I hadn't.

 

My husband took me to the emergency room in the middle of the night shortly after because I was doubled over in pain and crying.  After all tests, they couldn't find anything so they did exploratoy surgery.  I had a cyst, not a tumor, that was 10 inches in diameter and weighed 4 pounds on my ovary!  It would twist and it was turning gangrene and was ready to rupture, which would have killed both me and the baby.  I healed up quickly and felt so much better.  Couldn't drive for five weeks either.  I had a healthy baby girl four months later.

 

I've also had 5 1/2 hour surgery to remove my colon and had two blood transfusions after the surgery.  BUT, I was Christmas shopping at the mall 11 days later! 

 

Yes, it looks terribly scarey...especially when one of your children are involved but she will be just fine.  She is going to feel soooo much better, too.  I do hope that tumor on her brain goes away, though.  Did they say why she is getting these tumors all over her body? 

 

I'll be praying for a total, complete recovery from all of this.  Meanwhile, you relax and enjoy those grandchildren!  I'm jealous.

Wow, I am so happy to hear that her surgery went ok. She is going through so much medical stuff at once, it is just not fair. Hopefully she has a peaceful recovery.

Hopefully these tumors will stop.  Are they from the endometriosis?  My daughter has endo. but hasn't had tumors.  She's been able to keep it under control using birth control tablets.

 

They will probably send her home with iron to take.  That's what they did with me.  After my colon surgery, I actually could have used 2 more transfusions but they didn't want to do that because I had already had 4 transfusions before the surgery.  The iron helps the body build up new red blood cells.  Try not to worry too much.  I know you will because you love her so much, but don't be too hard on you!

My thoughts are with you and your daughter.  It's hard when our kids are sick, no matter how old they are!  Here's hoping for a speedy revovery!

Rose, I'm glad she is coming home now.  You always seem to get better faster when you are in your familiar surroundings.

 

Most importantly, take care of yourself FIRST!  What help will you be if you are sick, too!  Pace yourself and YOU can give out chores that you can't handle.  Pass them on to your SIL since he'd rather "help" than work.  Please don't take on more that you can handle and pace yourself.  Seriously, if I were in that situation, I'd turn into a drill sargent!  LOL  Do not be a martyr.  Your SIL is young and healthy so give him plenty to keep him occupied....and not in the kitchen!  You can always show him how to use the washer and dryer.

 

Now, if he gets stubborn, just stay in the room with your daughter and take care of her.  He can take care of the house and kids.   You can fix meals but I'd let him handle things if he won't help you.  How much do  you want to bet he'll go back to his job! 

I hope things turn out much easier than you have conjured up in  your mind.

I've had two major surgeries and each time it was five weeks.  I sure felt I could drive but I didn't, just in case.  That should be one of her questions at her next appointment because things change in medicine all of the time.
