Think I need to go back on my zoloft

I really hate the way that I have been feeling ever since I stopped taking Zoloft! The weird feelings and the irittability. I just keep thinking about how much better I felt when I was on it. I am so grumpy all the time and emotional. I do not want to go back on the zoloft becasue of the weight gain but I am so sick of feeling this way, it is either Zoloft or try the Effexor! Any Advice?

I felt great initially, but had enormous weight gain many years ago from Zoloft. There are so many antidepressant/anti-anxiety meds out there today it would certainly be worth trying a different one to see if you get the same emotional lift without the weight gain.

Can you try Cymbalta? I'm on a concoction of meds; Cymbalta 60mg, Lyrica 150mg, and Cesamet 1mg in the morning. Then I take half the dose of all three of those meds midway through my day, and then take JUST the Lyrica and Cesamet *full dose* for bed. I had to tweak my dose to include the midway half dose because my body would shut itself down and pain would come an hour to three hours later:S

The Cymbalta is like the cousin drug to Effexor, but I've been on the Cymbalta since last year *never tried Effexor*, and wonders I tell you. My energy also feels tremendously better since I switched my Cymbalta from a bed dose to morning:D

I also take an Rx Reactin due to my nasty allergies that I didn't know I had, lol! Too bad the Reactin won't help your pain too eh;p Though it does make me sleep a little more soundly these days;)

I'm afraid i can't be of much help on this topic mainly because i am still not sure if the meds available in Belgium are the same as are available in the USA or anywhere else.
I do know about Cymbalta and Neurontin (is that spelled right?) because my doc mentioned cymbalta saying that if my current meds weren't cutting it that he would try cymbalta but that he wanted to wait cause the cymbalta should be stronger then the Redomex that i am currently on. My mum mentioned she used to be on that neurontin thing but that she didn't take too well to those pilss + they are apparently very expensive in Belgium (around 100 € for 1 month and health insurance does not cover this)
Does anyone here now if all the namers for the meds are the same in Europe and in the USA?

It has been my experience that if you went off Zoloft and had emotional problems, then if you ever have to go off Cymbalta it will be even worse. When I went off Cymbalta I had to be admitted to the hospital for suicide watch. Like I said, this is just my experience so it may be different for you.

I am currently on Savella and Abilify and that seems to be doing a great job together. I am upbeat and feel great...without the weight gain! Hope this helps and I hope that you get some answers soon.

All of these drugs, SSRI's, SNRI's and mood stabilzers have side effects which some can tolerate, others cannot.  They work for awhile, then stop so you have to updose or change to another drug then go through the side effects again.  Weaning off them can be nasty.  Like LupusMomma I thought I was going crazy when I got off Lexapro although I did not taper properly.  The Brain Zaps were horrible as well as headaches.  You have to weigh the pros and cons and decide.  Is the weight gain worth mental peace?  I wish you luck in you decision.  Oh...from all I have read in my husband's mental health journals, Effexor is the hardest antidepressant to wean from...very powerful and some of the extended time capsules are tiny beads that you have to count when you taper.  Just my opinion...

Thank you everyone for your responses! I am kinda in a darned if I do darned If I don't situation right now. I have tried the Cymbalata but it was awful for me. I think that I am doing ok, but I can feel the difference of being off the meds my Fibro is horrible now. I think that I am just going to play it out for a few more days and  see how it goes. If I need the meds I know that they are there but I do not want them. My problem is even though I was weened from the Zoloft I still had the withdrawl and it was awful, it did not help the I took Wellbutrion for 5 days and had to stop taking that as well. I am not in any hurry to be back on meds but I want to feel better at the saem time. Thank you everyone! I will keep everyone posted!
