Ugh. Nausea from magnesium supplements?

Hi,

I know that many of the meds that I am on can cause nausea, but the only thing new that I've added is magnesium gly-something or other and am dealing with awful, awful nausea.  Has anyone else experienced nausea when they added magnesium?

Of course, it might be totally unrelated to anything that I am taking........

If you take it with food that might help.  Start out slowly because if you take a lot of magnesium at first, you could have diarrhea.  I take my malic acid/magnesium supplements with food.  The magnesium in my supplement is magnesium malate.

I tried taking the malic acid/magnesium and had horrible heartburn. I had to stop taking them. Even heartburn meds didn't help.

That's really interesting Erie Islander - I bought some antacid tablets last night (terrible heartburn but I can't swallow tablets) and noticed that they contained magnesium. I thought, could I be nuts in thinking that the increase in magnesium could be causing this heartburn?? Arrgh, it isn't even 9 a.m. and the heart burn is back, as soon as I consume anything arrrrrghhhhhh

My sister who has MS takes magnesium and it really upsets her stomach.

I have digestive problems with Crohn's but am able to take the magnesium in my malic acid supplements.  I did start out very slowly and waited to see how they would affect me.  I then would up it a little.  I always take it with food, too, to help protect my stomach.
