Hello everyone,

I saw my rheumatologist yesterday and told her about my sleep issues. She prescribed Trazodone. I tried it a few years ago for sleeping and it gave me side effects. Has anyone been helped with Trazodone for a good night's sleep? I may just stick with my sleep supplements and not get the script filled because I am very medication sensitive.

My hubby take it for sleep and I swear his moods are getting better. I am glad. I took it once when I was out of ambien and it worked for me for sleep. No side effects that I noticed. I hope that you find what works for you. I like the ambien. I fall right to sleep. But needs to be taken on an empty stomache. I did get up last night and ate two cupcakes about 2:00 am. It can cause you to sleep walk and sleep eat. But I barely do that. Tasted good though. lol...

Trazodone works well for sleep and less addictive. It use to be an old antidepressant before the new ones came out. DR's like to use it because it's less addictive then ambien.

I take 50 mg and it helps me a lot with sleep. I started at 25 mg, so you can start low and see how it affects you. For me it has had very few side effects.

I take it for sleep (100 mg) and it definitely helps. Take it about a half hour to hour before you are ready to go to sleep for best results.

I have not noticed any side effects from the trazodone but a take quite a few antidepressants/mood stabilizers.

I take it on an as-needed basis and it seems to help.

Wait, I was told no trazadone with any anti-depressants... was this wrong?

I had an appt. in the behavioral health department today. The psychiatric FNP prescribed a combination of Cymbalta/trazadone to address my symptoms.

I've been on Ambien since December, but apparently I do things on it without knowing/remembering (including phone calls, messaging, eating), so I am glad to be discontinuing that med. I hope the new combo works. She said the Cymbalta has been successful for others in not only working as an antidepressant, but in relieving muscle pain of fibro because it's an SNRI. That would be magnificent. I had previous relief when I took Savella for a short time (also an SNRI) but had too many side effects. It would be awesome if I could finally something to take without the side effects.

Wow. I'd love to hear how it works out for you. Let us know please. I'm on cymbalta but it doesn't help much with sleep, just mostly in the daytime.

You do have to be careful with interaction on drugs. I was on wellbutrin and high dose of Trazodone. I had a grandmal seizure on them . My dr. That treated me said it was the combination of the two that caused me to have PRESS syndrome. Don't be scared to use it if your prescribed it. I miss not having it.

While I was in the office they entered all my meds into the computer and a program looks for potential negative interactions etc. before they prescribe anything. One of the things she discussed with me was whether I had any liver/kidney problems or heart problems in my family, because apparently those were concerns with at least one of the meds she was interested in prescribing. Also, she said there was another one they would have considered, but I have an allergy to doxepin. Because of that allergy it would not be a good choice for me (due to higher risk of negative reaction). I felt good knowing that she did a thorough history before deciding on the game plan. Between the nurse and FNP my appointment was two hours long.
