Anyone taking Normison? Has it helped

Yesterday my GP gave me Normison to take to help me sleep. But after checking it out on GOOGLE I have doubts because of all the side effects.

I need sleep because at present I am getting a hours sleep at night, yes only an hour on a good night.

Hi Kathy,

I hadn't heard of it by that name so I also did some reading. It scared the daylights out of me and personally I doubt if I would take it. But everyone has different experiences and opinion for themselves about what medications they take. This is my opinion for myself. If you are able to get Ambien down there that might be a better choice. It doesn't have the 'street' history this other medication.

Just a thought...

This is all my GP would give me he had already decided because of my allergies my choices are limited also i have taken a lot of different meds in the past and they have not worked Stilnox as a example has NO effect on me at all.

If Ambien/Stilnox did not work for you, this drug is a reasonable choice to help you sleep. If you use it as directed, there is very little chance of having problems with it. It is particularly important to not mix it with alcohol. The wikipedia article on Temazepam seems particularly unbalanced against the use of this drug to me.

If you are nervous about trying it, have you already tried Melatonin? It's over the counter in the United States, but I'm not sure about Australia. The optimal dose is .3 mg, but it can be hard to find it in low strengths. It works quite well for some people.

Well there is a problem with the meds I just wish he had told me the gernic name of them I have tried them before with no results and it was a lot syronger dose. that is the problem with having too change GP'S the new one does not have the time to read all the notes of your old GP.

It might be worth trying again. As some work sometimes and not others. I am sorry that you haven't had luck with it in the past. But it might help you now.

I do meditation for sleep. That might be worth a try. It is from you and it is free. No side effects.

The melatonin is worth trying too. It works mr me, but for only a few days. So I stick with ambien.
