Hello Everyone,

Perhaps the best way to meet up with other fibromites is mattress shopping for something comfortable like a Comfortpedic. My boyfriend and I were looking into exchanging his very firm Comfortpedic for a softer variety that I could tolerate and I met a fellow fibromite who was also shopping for a comfortable mattress. She's had fibro for 5 years. I've had it for 10 so I was able to share some information with her on what worked best for me.

It's nice to share information in here but it's even more gratifying when you can help another fibromite in person.

That's true. Did you wind up with another Comforpedic? I love mine!

bwfm, yes, tomorrow the softer variety arrives. It cost him $500 more because there's more foam in this softer variety. I guess there are 3 levels of firmness. Mine at my home has the middle level of firmness this is the one my boyfriend has just purchased. I heard that people with back injuries should not sleep on a firm mattress or a too soft mattress. I know I can't tolerate it.

I got a new mattress in March. I spent alot of time laying on the mattresses at the store and picked one that felt the best to me. I still wake up often in the middle of the night as I turn over alot and the pain in my neck wakes me up. Well...I went to Rhode Island the last weekend of Nov. It was COLD AND SNOWY! I slept in the basement (temp. was maybe mid 50's down there because I didn't know they had individual room temp. control) on an AIR MATTRESS on the FLOOR and slept like a log! rolleyes What's with that? rolleyes   Thinking about throwing my good mattress out and hitting the camping department at Walmart. Anyone else try an airmattress?

Interesting, no I haven't tried an air mattress. I doubt that I could tolerate it. I need my cush. I'm glad you did well on it. For your mattress at home and your neck ache make sure your pillow has the right support. When you lay on your side is your cervical spine (neck) level with the rest of your spine?

I slept on air matresses camping until we got our pop up trailer. I can't say it was the best sleep I've ever gotten. And I can say I woke very stiff the next day! lol

I've slept on a bunch of air mattresses. My family thinks "oh she's young, she'll be fine on the floor" I wanted to die in the morning I was so sore and all through the day. I can't tolerate but that's awesome you can!

Are tempurpedic's good mattresses? I've been debating about getting a new one but I don't even know where to start. I've never bought one before - I've just gotten ones from my mom's house or something but I think I need an actual nice mattress. I wake up sore every morning, think this'll help.

I would suggest you go to a nice furniture and test mattress. I find the Comfortpedic to be more comfortable than the Temperpedic but everyone's different.

I agree, Comforpedic is more comfortable, and they showed us the difference between the Temperpedic and the Comforpedic while we were in the store. They had a sample of each one in a freezer. They took both out, and the Comforpedic was way more pliable and warmed up quicker than the Temperpedic. After I bought my bed, I told them I'd be glad to do a commercial for Comforpedic!

Sorry,forgot to mention that we bought the "Mystere" type of Comforpedic mattress.
