I have a tribunal meeting on Wed morning and I am really stressing. Its for CPP Disability and my Dr was supposed to have a letter ready for me I have not been called to pick it up yet. The only new information they will have is a few tests that showed the usual nothing!! I have been juggling our bills and we really really need the disability or we could actually loose our home. darn my hubby is going to go and due to my daughters picking this stessful time to fight neither of them will be there. Pleas send me possitive thoughts, I hope when they actually see me there will be no doubt about me not being able to work.

I would go in there with a honest and determined attitude. If you are like me , I could no longer keep up the hrs. Do to severe pain and fatigue. Let them know how hard and difficult it's to do daily activities. I believe mine was determined on my depression and anxiety. They wrote my Psy. dr and it was after that I got my disability. I hope everything goes in your favor tomorrow. Let us know. I know how hard the waiting game is. I waited nine months on the second try.

Go to doctor's office and tell them politely you will wait til letter is ready!! I've done things like that before-very effective!!

Maggie and Angel are correct.  I would also make a mini-journal listing daily activities and then use the pain charts in Fibro 101 to accurately describe your pain in doing these activities.  Also, print out copies of the pain charts so they can see EXACTLY what you are talking about.  Both the journal and the pain charts are in Fibro 101.

 

I'll be praying that they truly listen to you and see the pain you are in.

Hi, sorry I didn't see this earlier so I could give you some advice sooner (I'm a disability lawyer w/fibro). I'm not sure how a tribunal meeting is conducted but if it's anything like a SSA disability hearing, you may be able to ask for the record to be left open so that you can submit the evidence from your doctor. I received a call from Drs office today and hubby picked it up : ) Finally he has put it into writing I am totally unable to work. I am getting nervous because I am not used to defending myself, I am having my hubby go with me. The good/bad of this is my FM is making me hurt so so bad I guess perfect timing for a flare. At this exact moment I don't know what hurts the most. Please don't get me wrong I am not thrilled to be classified as disabled this has been going on for a very long time and I just want it done.

I will let you know the decision, thank you all for the well wishes and prayers.

good luck, I hope everythign goes wel tomorrow. It may be good that you are flaring right now, show them what it can be like. Tell us how it goes!

The hearing started at 9 am and at 9:45 they said due to all the medical reports I received yesterday that they needed more time to make a decision so I have to go back in about 6 months I will be notified by mail the new date. I have been denied and this is the final appeal. This is so silly they denied me previously because I had no documentation due to specialist wait times, I finally got in to see specialists and have had testing done and diagnosis bring in the "proof" they wanted.

Rose.....I am so sorry, I think it is pathetic when someone is so ill they can not work. They expect you to do all the chasing after doctors for reports and stuff. Do they not realize that most of us would love to be able to work...We are not lazy WE ARE SICK....really..Rose I hope you have a support team that can help you through yet another hurdle in already a difficult life. My husband an I had to sell our home or lose it so I do sympathize with you...keep us posted. Bless you and your family

Hi Rose,

Our government sure has a funny way of doing things, eh? Hopefully because you've been forceful about appealing they'll give you a fair-er shot. I hope you hear from them sooner than 6 months:s !!

Keep in mind too that the tribunal has a job to make sure that the people claiming to be disabled are actually disabled. YES, they will make all our lives hell for a while, there's no question, but that is so people like us get the monies we need, and the people faking don't get a dime! And please don't think I'm calling you a liar or a faker. Also, if you are allowed to re-apply, not appeal, for a new disability claim, get the aid of a Parallegal associated with disability so that you get can your supporting documents together the way the tribunal would have it.
