I got Dx with hypoglycemia years before I got fibro. I now have it mostly under control. I only eat whole grains, no sugar, no refined flours, no soda, no straight juice (I dilute with water), no caffeine. I eat a small meal or a snack every two hours. I have to eat right when I get up. And often I have to have some whole grain, no sugar cereal before bed or I get nightmares.
Hypoglycemia is also affected by stress (just like my fibro is). It is something you can control with diet and light exercise. If you pay attention your body will tell you what it can and can't tollerate. for instance I tried to go vegetarian recently, but I couldn't do it with the hypoglycemia. Too many carbs, so I am back to poultry and fish for protein in my meals.
I did a couple of glucose tolerance tests and went to an endocrynologist (sp?) and a nutritionist. But I think you can find a lot of info on your own and do the adjustments to your diet yourself. Low carb, no sugar, no refined grains (white rice or white flour are no no's), no caffeine- eat every two hours with some protein, nuts, veggies. drink a lot of water.
Good luck,
Susan
