Auto accident....

So I was rear-ended in my car while stopped at a stop sign... and now the fibro is back in full force... headaches, neck, shoulder, back, etc... even shoulders and hips.

I have to wait until the other party accepts blame/responsibility before I can go to chiropractor or get car fixed. Theirs has a scratch on the bumper, mine has damaged bumper, quarter panel, broken out lights, etc...

Bummer that it happened during Christmas season... have a long wait to get it repaired...

I can't remember - does anyone know when the symptoms of whiplash would be present? I thought there was a delay... but not sure.

Did the police come? did they give the rear-ender a citation? If so, contact her insurance agency and tell them you need medical help and auto repair now, that you have the citation to "prove" fault. If the police did not come and no citation was given it may very well be that the other party never reported the accident to their ins. company and you may never get a call from them. Unfortunately this happens quite often. If there is no citation you have to make the call and prove to them that the other driver was at fault and that there was damage. In my case the other driver never made the claim to their insurance because the person driving the car at the time of the accident didn't have a drivers license. I guess they were hoping that I wouldn't make a claim either. That citation proved to be my lifesaver because their insurance company wasn't going to budge without it.


I know this doesnt answer your question about the whiplash but I hope it helps with the insurance and fault issue. You should not have to wait for medical care or auto repair.

Wow sorry to hear about your accident. I think that is what brought my fibro out. I was rear ended about 3 years ago really hard. I was close to the car in front of me so I immediately hit his bumper and actually stamped my license plate into the bumper...so I had 2 forces one from the back then the front. Anyway within 10 minutes I had a headache that started from the back of head and came around the front. I suffered a whiplash and concussion...and let me tell you whiplash pain is BAD!!! I have never had such weird pains in my head like that. I guess it was the concussion too, idk.
I hope you feel better and get some rest over the holidays.

What a way to spend the holiday...in pain. I'm sorry you got rear ended. :(

I was rear ended by a drunk driver 16 years ago. I was pregnant with my daughter at the time. The whiplash pain was excruciating! My pain management was limited because I was pregnant. Still to this day, my neck gives me grief on occasion.

Well, had the chiro visit last Saturday. He did help. But I have to say that in the past week since the accident, my fibro is flaring.. severe fatigue, headaches, low back aches, shoulders and neck - OMG they are so sore... I don't know if it's the stress of the accident or just the physical experience or a combo... that and finding out my sister has breast cancer...

Have a call into my rheumy to find out what the next step is, though I imagine it is to wait it out... trying to get back to chiro today to unlock all these clenched areas of my back and neck and shoulders. Who knew what sort of after effects would be coming a week afterwards... aargh.

Hoping that 2012 is a happy, healthy, pain free (or reduced) year for us all!

I hope you feel better soon. I've been rear ended twice - the first time was more severe than the second, but I had neck and all over body pain with both. My neck still bothers me, but so does every other body part, lol, so it's hard to tell if the pain is from the first accident or just fibro. With that one, I did have to go to the doctor, and I did some physical therapy. It took a while, but it did get better.

The second accident was so minor that it didn't even cause any damage to either vehicle, but I STILL had neck pain for a few weeks (and, of course, all over body pain from the stress). I don't know if "normal" people would have experienced the same level of pain with that minor of an accident.

I guess my point is that it has happened to me twice but I have gotten better both times. I'm hoping that given a few more weeks the pain from the accident will have dissipated.
