Anyone? I went out this morning to do groceries for the weekend. It was madhouse!! We just got a nice Wegman's with specialty foods, and the cheese area was jam-packed. most people were pretty aware and thoughtful, but others were oblivious. They don't mean to be, just wrapped up in their own things.

All I have left to get for presents is something for bro-in-law, who is always rough to buy for. luckily, he lives across the country, so I can pick it up after the weekend. Of course, I didn't get the package mailed!!

I got everything done and made my butter pecan fudge today that I give as gifts to family members and I made a Key Lime Pie.  So, now I can rest.

 

I have two adult children that are impossible to buy for.  So, I pick up Visa gift cards for them.  They really like it because they can be used anyplace you can use a Visa card.  I put it in a nice card with a note and I don't have to deal with shipping boxes!  yeah Just an idea for those hard to buy for people in your life.

making broth at the moment from a chicken carcass, and will be soaking some beans tonight. We do Cuban on Christmas eve.

I might go for the Starbucks card, or some good coffee. The man works like a caffeine-crazed beaver... So either will be appreciated.

Sherri, I hear you on the gift cards. Shipping from Alaska can be expensive. I rather put an extra money in the card then put $30 for shipping. I finally figured that out after a few years living here.

ooooooo Cuban-lol!!

We are so broke this year that we gave family handmade candles and homemeade cookies and all is done..ta-dah!!!

My daughter is with relatives til Christmas day so my hubby and I have a whole day of peace and quiet, turn on all the lights and make Cajun red beans and rice with fresh french bread, maybe apot of greens...yum..

Haave a wonderful Christmas Eve remember the reason for the season

Me so broke too.... Stopped at an Ikea and got presents for everyone. Cheap gifts.... RAH. red beans n rice.... The best! We have black beans and some marinated chicken thighs. make those greens and put some hot sauce on for me.

Absolutely, lots of Crystal extra hot and enjoy those black beans...I also put a weird mix od sugar soy, worcestershir4e, vinegar and butter on my greens. I learned my greens recipe from a Korean lady I worked with who came to US 50 years ago and lived in rural Mississippi and spoke hardly a word of English...that woman could cook greens tho

I didn't have much to buy this year. Hubby and I are giving eachother about 2 little things, both daughters want only cash and son gets a few things and less cash. Not too much fun for mom, but easy!

It's a weird Christmas Eve. Our youngest is flying to Costa Rica tonight. Alone. :( And our other daughter is in Oregon. So we'll have a little celebration with both of them in January. Life is all about adapting to change, right?

I had to do a couple of last minute things today as well and was pleasantly surprised no line ups and this afternoon my younger daughter brought her girls over to exchange gifts. We spent about 2 hours sitting on the livingroom floor painting, I got to sit on a pillow : ) Tonight relaxing because tomorrow we do Christmas brunch, eggs benedict and I cook a turkey to slice for finger food for the 26th. Christmas has changed for us over the years from a big family dinner on the 24th and then the same on the 25th for more family and then a huge open house on the 26th. Now its pretty quiet and I hope it stays this way.
